School Library Journal - School Library JournalGr 3-6-Three titles based on televised episodes of Corwin's programs on Animal Planet. The highlight here is the narrator's enthusiasm for the adventure and wild creatures he encounters, no matter how dangerous. The smoothly written, conversational texts capture the feel of the television show. Some of the full-color photos are a bit too small to see, but they are attractively placed and spaced, making for an interesting presentation. Arizona focuses on snakes, with a special section on snake-venom milking. In California, Corwin introduces water and mountain creatures such as sharks, sea otters, bears, snakes, and bobcats; and in Louisiana, swamp creatures such as alligators and frogs, as well as owls, snakes, armadillos, bears, opossums, and rabbits all make an appearance. Almost all the photography comes from the Discovery Communications, which supports Corwin's programming. Given the light coverage, the material is not of primary importance to purchase, but does have supplemental value.-Nancy Call, Santa Cruz Public Libraries, Aptos, CA Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.
