Introducing Harlemm Lee

All Music Guide - Johnny Loftus
Harlemm Lee won the first season of NBC's Fame, a program that applied the familiar nameplate to a new pop reality contest similar to American Idol and its ilk. Fresh-faced Detroiter Woo came to California back in 1987, and issued the Listen to My Heart Beat LP through the Polydor label. He even had some chart success with a charming remake of "Hey There Lonely Girl." Introducing focuses heavily on MOR balladry. It includes "Destiny," the requisite duet with his Fame runner-up ...

    Don't miss this great talent!

It's an awesome record. His voice is so versatile. From pop, R&B, to gospel...It's really amazing! Sound clips don't do it justice... Also, the arrangement of the songs are very good. I have had hard time deciding which one is my favorite. Definitely check it out.

Song clips don't do justice to the CD!

If you've listened to the sound clips and thought "oh, this sounds too karaoke-ish" you aren't alone. Luckily the CD shows much more dynamic range in the music arrangement than the sound clips suggest. The CD is entertaining and you can almost imagine Harlemm performing on stage to the songs. Best songs are "Careless Whisper" and "Destiny." Some may shy away from this CD because of all of the cover tunes but give this a chance as Harlemm makes each song his own. Definitely one I'll be listening on repeat for the weeks to come while at work.
