If you're an *absolute* novice to guitar effects and tone, then this is the book for you however, anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of effects processing and the various things that affect a guitar's tone (wood, strings, pickups, body/headstock shape, neck construction, etc...) will find the information contained in this book a bit sparse. I was hoping for a bit more.

Thank you! I have been looking for a book just like this forever. I have wrestled with understanding how effects and amps and guitars interact, and this book does a perfect job explaining all of these things. It has plenty of useful diagrams and pictures to help you understand how it is all connected together, and the CD is awesome. The performances on there are really cool, and my only gripe is that DMB and HL didn't transcribe the riffs and licks on the CD in the book. If you have questions about guitar tone and effects, this book has the answers you're looking for. Nuf said! You need to pick this one up!
