I had this book at my high school last year. I knew nothing about programing and i learned a lot and the book made it helpful. Now that i have forgotten most of what i learned, im looking to buy this book so i can refresh my memory on programming. I highly recomend this for beginnersWas this review helpful? I currently teach Visual Basic for beginners at NYU and this is the book I ask my students to get. Not only is this book informative and technically sound, it comes with a working copy of Visual Basic to get your feet wet!! While it is beyond the scope of this book to teach advanced topics, my students have gone on to get advanced knowledge of Visual Basic from my teaching with this book. Its a great place to start for someone who knows little or nothing about programming. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I found this book to be very usefull. The explanations were clear and to the point, the examples clarified all the points made ,and the numerous excercises at the end of each chapter provide the only way do really learn anything. After two months of hard work with this book I have gone from zero knowledge of programming to writing fairly comlicated programs. I would recommend this book to anyone who has the patience to really sit down and learn. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I knew nothing regarding prog. languages, and after taking a course with this book, I still know nothing. It's laid out well, but the examples used are terrible in relation to the material previously covered. I spent hours thumbing through this book to find examples that would explain the problems at the end of each chapter. Sorry, one of the worst books I've had the displeasure of using. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

As someone who had never taken a programming course before, I was looking for a book that would not assume that the student knew much about programming. I felt that the book did just that. It covered the very basic things, beginning with using Windows. The material was presented in an orderly fashion and many short examples of programming techniques were covered in each chapter. The book was easy to read and many general interest-type programs were presented. The end-of-chapter programs were somewhat challenging and occasionally time-consuming, but not to the point that they were impossible to do. I found the book to be a valuable reference during my course-work and programming. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
