I really liked this idea to combine three volumes of the Inuyasha manga into one edition. There are many reasons why this was a good choice. The first would be because they made the book a bit larger which means the art is larger and clearer. The second would be the value of getting three volumes in one. And the third reason is that the original first three volumes were flipped to American (Western) style reading which means that one of the characters was no longer correct because of mirroring. This version has put it back to the original Japanese style correcting the aforementioned issue! Also, as an added bonus, there is a bonus art gallery at the end with the original full color cover art from the first three volumes. I also enjoyed how heavy it is and that the paper is much better quality than the individual manga volumes were printed on. All in all this is a must have for a true Inuyasha fan!

Well, this series is fairly popular anyway, so I won't go into the story... but the actual format is great! It's a good bargain for the collector, and you can finally read it in the original unflipped order, too.

My first love!! This was the series that started my fascination with manga. Originally I watched the anime and once I reached the point where it ended (before they animated The Final Act) I wanted more. So I started from the beginning in the manga. I knew it was love when I came to the page where Kagome finds Inuyasha pinned to the Goshinboku tree, covered and in vines and leaves, almost fairytale like. Some 500 plus chapters later the series ends and I was deeply saddened, even though it was ridiculously long. I'm attracted to the whole premise of the story, searching for shards, personal growth, time travel, traversing through a feudal pre-modern Japan with mythical creatures. There's some reasoning to why the antagonists are the way they are, with Naraku being driven to obtain the Shikon no Tama because of love. Well more like unrequited love. And for some reason I'm drawn to travels by foot, and resting at night by the light of the moon and the warmth of a fire. It's sort of romantic and at a subconscious level I guess part of me despises living in fast paced modern world like Kagome is from. Which would explain why I secretly enjoy it when the power goes out, but only for a few hours. Not for weeks on end or when you are in the shower with shampoo foaming in your hair. Oh and the fables! This series had me checking out a few books from the library on Japanese folklores and myths. Had me dreaming of dog demons, kitsunes and deities living in shrines hidden amongst green misty mountains. I think Takahashi very nicely incorporated that theme into her manga. She, however, could have left out some unneeded slapstick, lecherousness from Miroku, and characters that didn't bring much to the plot then were never seen past a few chapters. Never the less it was a wonderful journey. And if I ever stumble across an old dried up well...I just might jump.
