Overview

The invasion of California has begun, threatening to trigger World War III.

Greater China and its South American allies control Mexico, and their armies are poised on the Rio Grande, ready for the next phase of the North American conquest.

It is 2039. The Chinese are launching their secret weapon against the American border fortifications. At the same time, an amphibious fleet steams toward San Francisco. The Chinese have formed the Pan Asian Alliance and signed a war-pact with the South American Federation. Glacial cooling has brought the Earth to the brink of starvation. Now, U.S. soil is the most valuable commodity in the world, and the aggressor powers plan to divide it amongst themselves.

America is down but she is not out. The military has some deadly surprises for the invaders, but it may not be enough. Enemy wave assaults, vast armor battles and new drone fighters turn the war into a seething cauldron of mass destruction.

Invasion: California is a disturbing and controversial technothriller vast in scope, written by bestselling author Vaughn Heppner.

Once again Vaughn Heppner has hit out of the park.Based on current political realities and trends this is a very probable yet not preordained vision of the near future. The author creates believable and well rounded characters who inhabit a very dangerous world. The scenario is quite likely- a future world that cannot feed itself but can raise a tremendous military force to invade a mighty empire that has fallen into destroying the prosperity of its own people and weakened itself militarily. The past does repeat itself and Vaughn Heppner has done a fantastic job of demostating that in an entertaining and insightful way.Check this guy out!5 stars.

Recommended. Good story, lots of actions, believable characters

    Recommended.

Good story, lots of actions, believable characters. My only negative comment would have to do with world-building. In the world created by the author, the US would have quickly fallen since it lacks technology, resources and man-power to resist its enemies. Furthermore I found it implausible that a world wanting to invade the US for food supplies could amass the technological and military might to stage the kind of invasion the author envisions. If people have resources to create incredible amounts of high tech weapons systems, they can find resources to feed themselves If they cannot feed themselves, then they cannot maintain the sophisticated work force needed to produce advanced weapons. So though the book is certainly worth buying and reading, the premise is a bit weak. FWIW, I look forward to the next installment and will buy it as soon as it's available.

Great Follow up to Invasion Alaska

Overall the book kept my interest through the use of the many sub stories. It would have been a little nicer if the story didn't pick up after a missing story, the Invasion of Hawaii. I would definitely want the series to continue. This one is a keeper.

    Invasion: California

Action packed war novel continuing the series begun in Invasion: Alaska. Hard to put down and the author keeps things moving from beginning to end. Describes one scarry potential future for our country in that the US in these stories is financially bankrupt and is a second to third rate economic and military power with only our ability to grow food going for us.
