Editorial Reviews

Everyone now agrees that the contemporary authorities did not do a good job investigating the alleged assassination attempt on James I in 1606. Nicholls (manuscripts and archives, Cambridge U. Library) contends that there was indeed a plot, and that the government never caught the main culprit: the ninth earl of Northumberland. Distributed in the US by St. Martin's Press. Annotation c. An extremely well-researched book detailing the people and events surrounding England¿s ¿Gunpowder Plot¿ to blow up Parliament in 1605. If you are interested in Guy Fawkes, a key figure in the film V for Vendetta, this is an excellent place to start!
