Overview

After a six-year absence from the spotlight, Michael Jackson makes a predictable yet triumphant comeback with the aptly titled Invincible. Several years in the making and reportedly millions of dollars over budget, Invincible is no Thriller, but then again, who expected Jackson to top himself? Instead of reinventing the wheel, Jackson and his hit-squad production team (Rodney Jerkins, Teddy Riley, R. Kelly, and others) take an if-it-ain't-broke-don't-fix-it approach to the disc. Thus, Invincible showcases Jackson's trademark staccato and falsetto-accented vocal style, which is in fine form, particularly on the toe-tapping, piano-driven first single, "You Rock My World" and the lush ballad "Butterflies." Musically, Invincible leans heavily on Jerkins, whose ace production has recharged the careers of Brandy, the Spice Girls, and Whitney Houston, and whose radio-friendly, stuttered beat patterns permeate seven tracks, including the aforementioned "You Rock My World." The album would have sounded more cutting edge, however, if Jackson had called upon hip-hop visionaries such as Timbaland and the Neptunes (Dr. Dre reportedly declined to work on the disc). But what he lacks in innovation, Jacko compensates for with his charismatic vocals and catchy, sing-along lyrics, some of which reflect an age-appropriate maturity -- or at least the growth of his sexual appetite. On "Break of Dawn," a euphoric Jackson exclaims over a quiet storm groove that he won't stop making love til' the break of dawn. Well, sham-on, Mike. And as if a posthumous rap by the Notorious B.I.G. on the energetic "Unbreakable" weren't enough, M.J. recruited rejuvenated hitmaker Carlos Santana for a spicy guitar solo on the Latin-tinged "Whatever Happens." But Jackson needn't worry. Invincible has plenty of chart-topping potential. After all, as he barks on "Unbreakable," "you'll never break me." And coming from a man who has experienced equal shares of superstardom and scandal, truer words were never spoken.

All Music Guide
The question for a 42-year-old Michael Jackson heading toward the end of 2001 was whether or not the self-proclaimed King of Pop could make his presence known on the charts after having spent much of the '90s lAying low. If the chart-topping position achieved by Invincible is any indication, then the answer is a resounding yes. The album is primarily produced by Jersey wunderkind Rodney Jerkins, and Jacko wasted no time tapping other top-flight artists, knob-twirlers, and featured guests to help out, including Teddy Riley, Babyface, R. Kelly, the Notorious B.I.G., and Carlos Santana. Although MJ stops long enough to take a swipe at yellow journalists everywhere with "Privacy," he truly shines on "The Lost Children," a sweeping ode to his young fans everywhere.

I may be the first to write a review after MICHAEL JACKSON'S death. It really bothers me that this world has really gone to the jugular to try to destroy all of the people who are famous and are sincerely abide in TRUE LOVE.This world is not capable of accepting that a man can have so great of a need for abiding in the comfort of childhood.....something that he never was allowed to live out when he was biologically a child.Everything was thrust at Michael Jackson at the wrong time in his chronologic development. It is no wonder that he lived in a bubble world of fantasy.....of the simple childlike innocence.I do not believe that Michael Jackson was capable of doing the sick things he was accused of.Yes, he was considered eccentric. Yes,he did things that were not wise ,like hold his baby over the rail.He was a twisted individual who did not know how to exist in a "normal" world. I am the father of a mentally handicapped from birth manchild.I understand how it is/was for Michael Jackson in this judgmental world. My son has the same struggles. There is no hiding place for those that are childlike in an adult body. The world is a cruel place to exist when you do not quite measure up to the standards of people who have no right to judge anyone in the first place. Yet it seems that is all this society has time for is double standards for race ,gender, sexual preference, occupation ,nationality....whatever is not the so called standard of acceptance. This country is SICK and has been for some time. We have vilified Muhammad Ali and later praised him.We did the same thing to Nelson Mandela. This is the same attitude that made the crowd willing to free Barrabas and crucify Jesus Christ.WE CRUCIFY OUR CELEBRITIES AND HAVE NO REMORSE THAT IS GOING TO LAST MORE THAN 30 DAYS.WE ARE A MAD SOCIETY ! Yes, this is supposed to be a review for a music CD.Michael Jacson is dead now and all of the foul jokes and the pressures of celebrity helped to kill him.The real Michael Jackson, because he looked at life and love through the eyes of a child, knew more about what Jesus and Muhammad teach about coming to God as innocent as a child.Rest in PEACE, MICHAEL. This world loves you....even though it still needs the lessons you tried to teach them.

The fact that the detractors will/can only compare Invincible to Michael Jackson's other works speak volumes about both Mr. Jackson and his "reviewers". Intentional or not, they only prove what's already known. He is an artist without equal.

You can't hate on this wonderous album, I'm sorry you just can't. Yeah it's not Thriller but guess what? It's not supposed to be. This album when it came out was very underrated and Sony didn't do right by it with all the "big advertisement" they showed it. It was underrated then and it is now. This album is amazing, MJ proves he can keep up with the times like no other artist, every song is a 5/5. If you really listen to the songs and let the message sink in, you'll like it. However if you're not so much into old modern music then I suggest you keep listening to the "classic" such as Thriller and Bad, really though, this album should really be up there on the list like his other previous albums, the fact that it's not stuns the hell out of me because this album is gold and nothing less. He may not could have topped himself, but if the late and great Michael Jackson couldn't, who could right? Please get this album and actually listen to it!! :D

I love Michael's new album it has more of a R&B feel to it than his past albums. Michael and Rodney make a perfect team. The slow cuts such as #5 are incredable. I am very pleased with Invincible. It lets Michael's fans know he is diverse and Multitalented.

Having heard around 80% of the album already, I can say that this album is an album that is definately worth buying. The production on this album is great and Michael's voice sounds as good as ever. The more you listen to the songs, the better they get. I can't wait to get it.

I'm a big Michael Jackson fan and expected a lot out of this CD, but got nothing. The first four songs sound the same, and the only hit is ''You Rock My World.'' That is the only song on the album that I like.

The album speaks for itself. Talent is talent and people should judge people for what they are and not what they appear to be! The only defining judgement is that of God, and Michael Jackson, just as the rest of us, is ONLY accountable to Him. This album is brilliant! Mike does hip-hop like he invented it, real pop (not bubble gum) because he is an originator/innovator, and r&b with every piece of his soul. No matter what ignorant, shallow, uncarring critics say, Michael Jackson is a human being and he treats his music as such. It is inspirational, spiritual in its execution, and absolutely jammable in everyway. Dance to it, let it carress your ears and your heart, and go hug someone you love. Believe it or not this is God's work, blessing this planet with people like Michael Jackson to help get us through all the pain and tragedy that befalls us in our lives. GO BUY IT, don't burn it!

Michael Jackson was and he still is the best seller of music. He sold almost 50 million copies of his Thriller album of mid 80's, and other albums did pretty cool. After a long quietness since his last album, released in 1995, History, which infact did not do very well, he has now a new album, which he says that is the last, and I can say that, it's the best in these times.

I must say that I did review this new album for Michael Jackson and it is simply a peace of musical ART. ''The Break of Dawn'' was so well sung with beautiful emotion and feeling it brought me into its meaning leaving me just feeling the music, another song that was just hard to belive was michaels work,''Speechless,'' this song is an emotional classic with touching lyrics and sound that leaves you feeling again the very pit of the song, song after song this album is almost like a journey though pure soul music with bits for everyone. I belived once that this Artist could never come musicly close to that of ''thriller,'' I must say in truth that this album sit's in the same sit it is a remarkable album full of love songs and sweat feelings and would be a joy for anyone who simply loves ''Just the Music.'' Finaly, I as far as sells. Due to Michael's recent music many will believe this album is the same old stuff from him and want even give it the time of day. As for me I'm glad I decided to review. If it only sells a million, I'll feel lucky. Thank you Barnes.

Wheather or not he proves to be ''Invincible'' in the music industry, he's given himself enough ammo with this album. Plenty of pop-driven tracks that have the energy worthy of his highness, and enough ballads for both pop lovers and r&b lovers like ''Butterflies'' and ''Heaven Can Wait'',which are my favorite tracks. I liked 10 of the 16 tracks on ''Invincible, though ''Speechless'' and ''Cry'' are too much like ''Heal The World'' in tone for me. This CD is solid enough to keep him in the game. Wait! That's right. He is ''THE GAME''

MICHAEL IS NOW AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE MAN!!! A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH AND A STAR THAT EVERYBODY IS TRYING TO CHASE. A TALENT SUCH AS MICHAEL ONLY COMES ALONG ONCE IN A A LIFETIME. I LOVE YOU MICHAEL AND ALWAYS WILL. INVINCIBLE SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE IT A BIGGER HIT THAN EVEN THRILLER. IT DESERVES ITS PLACE.

i don't know what happened to my review....but anyways alot of people have disliked this album and think it's a flop. after listening to this album, i find it to be enjoyable. i can't really say that this is his weakest album or bad album. MJ barely had any "weak" albums. he's a perfectionist when it comes to music. it may not be with the likes of thriller or bad, it's still a decent album to listen to. Compared to the majority of albums they have out now, i'll rather listen to this album. it's sooo much better. MJ is one of the few people that had kept his voice in perfect condition. His voice never deteriorated like singers such as Whitney or Mariah (thank God). His voice sounded good just as it did 30 years ago. He could still do those beautiful falsettos. He never did lost his appeal. 1. Unbreakable-it's unfortunate that people tried to "break him" until his passing. even though those heartless people tried to break his soul, his music and legacy will continue to be "unbreakable". when he goes high pitched, i smile every time. the rap verse with biggie was nice. 5/5 2. Heartbreaker-i like the video game sounds in the background. it reminds me of nsync's celebrity. 5/5 3. Invincible-yup, you tell them babe. tell those haters and wannabes that they CAN'T do it like you. you put them in their place. you will always be superior!!! 5/5 4. Break Of Dawn- this song is one of the best tracks. this song sounds so gorgeous and seductive with the flute in the background and MJ wanting to "make love until the break of dawn". 5/5 5. Heaven Can Wait-I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song!!! everytime i hear him says "you're beautiful, you're wonderful, you're incredible", it puts a smile on my face. it's like he's speaking to you. he should have defintely released this as a single. MJ can sound so good in all genres whether it be rock, pop, rnb, or blues. how ironic that he wrote this song years before his passing. what's even more ironic was that i saw some drawings that describe the lyrics very well. usher and ne-yo got NOTHING on this song!!!. 5/5 6. You Rock My World-he sure did!!! he let everyone know that he was back and he's still here to stay!!! wonderful comeback. chris tucker in the video was really funny. 5/5 7. Butterflies-another favorite of mines. that's classic michael right there. his falsettos put JT in his place and remind him that he's the ORIGINAL. it's gives me goosebumps just to hear Mike's voice. ooooooo. MJ has sexiness written all over him. me like! 5/5 8. Speechless- i love hearing his voice without the music. that alone can make anyone "speechless". 4/5 9. 2000 Watts-i'm laughing at the youtube people who didn't think this was MJ. i love his deep voice in the song. it sounds very futuristic. it's a great song to shake your booty to. 5/5 10. You Are My Life-this song is like a lullaby to his children. it's very beautiful and heartwarming. it's one of those moments where you say "awwwwwww". 4/5 11. Privacy-it's no "leave me alone", but the beginning and the camera flashing sounds were funny. 4/5 12. Don't Walk Away-i know how painful it is to have everything so perfect until it slips aways. poor michael, i can totally relate. 4/5 13. Cry- this song is ok....i want to like this song but it's nothing out of the ordinary. 3/5 14. The Lost Children-how many people do you know would write clean, decent songs for c

I cannot wait for this CD to be released!! People are always making fun of Micheal in between albums but when he has a new single everyone gets quiet...I love Rock My World and his new single Butterflies...He is the best and if it were not for him there would be no USHER, Ginuwine, SISQO and on and on...

This is a master piece!! Michael is back with a super combo of his earlier ''Thriller like'' unique sound, and the current alternative sounds. He has produced a super talnted CD with a great variety of talents including Santana!! This is going to be a classic, one of his greatest works and achievements! Taking his time was ultimately paid off with this super invincible album!! I love him!!

I think Invincible gives us a chance to hear the Michael Jackson that we all have missed and love. I love the ballads on this album, like break of dawn. I hope the Michael Jackson pushes the slow songs on this album because they are great. Welcome back King of Pop.

This CD is a must buy and have. Michael did his thang on this cd! He worked with Teddy Riley and R. Kelly two great artists. The fast cuts are great dance cuts and the ballards really put you in the move for love. Despite what the music industry states about this cd Invicible can stand with the rest of Michael's music. Can't believe when I bought this cd in 2001 and MJ number ones cd in 2003 that these were the last two cd's I would get to purchase. It's an extremely sad day in music history. Much love and you will be greatly missed. As a chlid I grew up listening to Michael"s music and the Jackson 5. His music will live on and transcend time and space. I read alot of other people"s comments and I'm appalled at the stupidity of some of you people who can spout negativity after this man's death. Everyone speaks of the music and performances but Michael has a heart of God and no one ever saw that in this man. Michael gave of himself in extraordinary boundless ways all over the world. Who can say that? He fed the world with his love and we in return did not give that same love back. Instead we ridicule the man for his choices for his pain. All of Michael's music is timeless, to me his most important piece of music is the Man In the Mirror.and everyone needs to take a look in the mirror. My prayer is for God to give the Jackson family the strenght they need to move on from this tragedy and loss, to take away their emptiness of this loss, to protect his children, and the answers they need to find peace. God cover this family with your loving-kindness and let them take refuge and solace in your arms. Michael your are absent from the body but present with the Father now you moonwalk on streets of gold in heaven with Jesus and your stage is the clouds above. Love you always
