Overview

Spiritual Warfare 101

The Bible is clear: if you are a Christian, you are at war. But our approach to spiritual warfare usually falls into one of two extremes--either we place an undue emphasis on Satan and his powers, or we completely ignore the existence of a personal enemy. The Invisible War offers believers a balanced look at what the Bible says on the subject.

Based on Paul's teaching in Ephesians 6, this book shows every believer what we ...

The Invisible War offers believers a balanced look at what the Bible says on the subject.

• prepare yourself for spiritual battle
• cultivate invincible faith

"There's no room for platitudes or vague, spiritual answers to pressing, difficult questions," says Chip Ingram. The Invisible War will help you understand your position in Christ, put on the full armor of God, and stand firm against the enemy.

Chip Ingram, a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, is president and teaching pastor of Living on the Edge, an international teaching, media, and discipleship ministry. Chip's vision is to partner with the local church to be a worldwide catalyst for discipleship. He is the author of nine books, including Finding God When You Need Him Most; Love, Sex, and Lasting Relationships; God: As He Longs for You to See Him; and Good to Great in God's Eyes. He is also the coauthor of Sex 180. Chip resides in Atlanta with his wife, Theresa, and has four grown children and six grandchildren.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Ingram (Sex 180), president of the Walk Thru the Bible ministry, draws on personal experience in this book about confronting spiritual darkness. He succeeds in taking a balanced approach, challenging readers who either ignore spiritual warfare or see manifestations of it around every corner. Expounding upon Ephesians 6 (in which Paul talks about putting on the "armor of God"), Ingram gives most of his time to "the everyday schemes of the evil one" and daily defensive spiritual disciplines (prayer, Bible meditation, repentance). He stresses that we are all in the middle of an "invisible war," that we don't need to fear the enemy but respect him, and that God's victory can be ours in every spiritual conflict. As a pastor in Santa Cruz for more than a decade, Ingram confronted occult activity that he believed threatened his ministry and family. While these tales are fascinating, more enlightening is Ingram's description of the subtle attacks he and others feel they have experienced through discouragement and doubt during key periods of ministry. While well-balanced with useful information, the book often reads like a sermon series transcript and will prove most informative for pastors looking for detailed sermon outlines, which are included with each section. Read THIS book!!!

I've not finished reading this book, to be honest. But, I have to say this is thus far, the best book I have read on the subject of "spiritual warfare," and I've read quite a few. This book is the REAL DEAL! Some of the other books on this subject have been unbiblical in their approach to defeating the enemy, and have recommended some what I thought were ridiculous formulas on how to get the victory. Well, as this author correctly states, it's NOT a matter of 'gaining the victory,' it's a matter of 'maintaining the victory!' That IS biblical! There are lots of scriptures given as references to the many aspects of how to do battle, the methods and names of the enemy. Yes, he has more than one name, and if we want to know our enemy, as we should, it's important to know this because it gives us insights as to how he will attack us. And attack us he will! But, the good news is; Christ has ALREADY defeated our enemy 2,000 yrs ago on a tree in Calvary, praise the Lord!!! Another point this author again correctly states is that though our enemy is real and powerful, we need no more than understand this and stand firm in our faith in Jesus Christ! We are NOT to put too much of a focus on him. Our focus is to ALWAYS REMAIN on Jesus and what He did for us on the Cross! I cannot overemphasize how much important insights you will gain from reading this book. It's definitely worth every penny and every minute spent reading this copy. BUY IT! You will not be disappointed.

    Haunting, Exciting, and Insightful!

Chip Ingram is a man of God who has suffered from Spiritual Warefare on a level many of us have never seen! His book has such haunting images of demonic and occult societies lingering around his church. If you don't believe in Satan, Demons, Etc., Then this is the book for you! Chip reveals to the believer that demons exist bibically, they're after us, how to defend ourselves, and much more! He even includes a self-section at the end of each chapter that helps you acknowledge the spiritual warefare in your life. Thank you so much for this book, Chip! My wife and I love it and it has helped us grow in Christ even more. God bless.

    Invisible War

This is without a doubt the best and most practical book I have ever read on the subject of spiritual warfare. I am starting to read my third time through it as I am writing this. It takes the usually nebulous explanation of the believers armor and makes its it very everyday practical. It takes everyday situations and explains how they fit into the enemies plans and tactics. It has just enough of the extreme situations for the reader to realize that even those are real life reasons to know and understand how we are to wage the war in the power and name of Jesus Christ.
