Good books go through many reprints and new editions. When I took Introductory Philosophy in 1968, we used the first edition of this text and I continued to consult it many times after that. When I started teaching in 1978, I used the third edition as one of the Introductory Philosophy texts. Now (in 2004) I am using the ninth edition of INVITATION TO PHILOSOPHY -- and plan to continue using the text until I retire. It gets across the basic ideas and the vocabulary of philosophy in as concise a manner as the subject will permit. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
