slipknot has made an empire bigger and stronger than any other band before the legendary IOWA was even released. Their music has power, and their lyrics mean something, they don't whine about politics and do nothing about it but get grammies (*cough* green day *cough). Amazing guitar work and drumming by mick, jim, chris, and shawn. corey taylor's voice is unbelievably crisp. Every member puts his heart into making the music that means something. Sid, Joey, Paul, Chris, Jim, Craig, Shawn, mick and corey are all gods now

this album is the best slipknot album to date. every song is absolutely awesome. any time i find myself in a bad mood i just blast this f666a and bang my head. the lyrics are so dark and twisted, but thats what makes it soooo goooood. a definate buy for any metal fan.

one very awesome second studio album by slipknot this album has everything a juggalo or jugalette or metalhead could ever ask for this album is awesome but this album is not for teens or tweens slipknot curses alot and parents could never understand slipknot same goes with dark lotus icp abk boondox twiztid everything i listen has cursing in it one way or another besides buy this album and the reissued debut album by slipknot

i love slipknot i own all of their albums but i gotta say this is their best album yet this album got slipknot to summer sonic festival in 2001 but they made lots of groundbreaking perfomances when this album came out this album is true thrash metal and also its also true metal to the core slipknot please make more albums like iowa

I'm ashamed of what American "Metal" has become. Cookie monster vocals and the writing skills of twelve year olds. I'm sure Mary Kate and Ashley would make a much better "Metal" band...

No doubt about it, Slipknot delivers the goods on Iowa. I mean what more could you expect from these 9 masked men. It's solid alternative metal with the angry/violent lyrics, the loud and crunchy guitar, and the at times mind-blowing drum work of Joey Jordison. However, it is pretty much the same album as their self-titled debut except a little less straightforward (And a little darker, if at all possible). Buy this CD, but get their self-titled first.

This ain't no Limp Bizkit. This is Slipknot. A real metal band. You know what makes a good metal band? 1)Headbanging songs. 2) Aggressive sound (percussion, guitar, vocals) 3)Good live performance. Slipknot has all 3. With a crazy 9-piece line-up numbering 0-8. With a odd image of halloween masks and matching jumpsuits. Track 1-(515)- Crazy intro with haunting sampling and guitars, it gives you a great start to a great album. 6.1 Track 2-People = $hit-A heavy start to the album. Dark lyrics, speedy beats, off-the-wall guitars. With the goth style lyric 'People = $hit' as Slipknot's opinion on life. This song will stick with you for awhile. 6.7 Track 3-Disasterpiece-Grunge-style guitar intro into more agressive percussion. With their made up lyric 'Disasterpiece' the opposite of 'masterpiece'. Another heavy tribute to the album. 8.6 Track 4-My Plague-A goth-tinged anthem of raging metal. The 2nd single off Iowa. With a softy version on the Resident Evil soundtrack. Also includes an alternative style chorus. With a goth like bridge. 7.3 Track 5-Everything Ends-More Slipknot metal, put with a punk/alternative/hardcore riff. But with more drumming and agressive percussion. Along with some haunting samples. 6.0 Track 6-The Heretic Anthem-Another heavy hitter but with a lighter melody, and with the odd chorus 'if you're a 555 then I'm a 666!' A great song live. 7.5 Track 7-Gently-Originally from MFKR, but edited a bit for the 9 piece. Very slow song. 6.4 Track 8-Left Behind-My favorite song off Iowa. All chemistries of Slipknot form into this song. Heavy percussion beats after each chorus, punk-grunge riffs, and a sampling atmosphere in the bridge and ending. With melody combined with the metal, it's a great song. 9.4 Track 9-The Shape-A lighter goth anthem with a haunting chorus. This will give you shivers but still makes you bang your head. 8.4 Track 10-I Am Hated-An ear-shredding anthem of only 2 and 1/2 minutes. Somewhat like the old days of Slipknot. 7.9 Track 11-Skin Ticket-A long, meaningfull blast off what Slipknot is. This song is one of the better songs on the album. 8.2 Track 12-New Abortion-More goth. 5.9 Track 13-Metabolic-More riffing and percussion. 7.1 Track 14-IOWA-A great outro, but a bit long. 5.7

This CD, in my opinion is great. Music-wise great guitar work, and great percussions. But for all of you who just hate their lyrics. You what I do? I IGNORE them. Some stupid people in the world think certain music lyrics are real life. Well they're not! I am a strong Catholic. These lyrics go completely against my religion. I ignore all of the gothic/satanic lyrics. I really just enjoy the vocals and music. Which is the reason why music is out their. I really like 'Left Behind' and 'People = S***'. If you are to much of a wimp and let these lyrics rate your decision. Then don't buy the album.

The is has to be one of the bst Slipknot Cd's ever made by Slipknot. All the songs on the cd have great rhyme and the vocals of Cory Taylor are astounding. The beats in the songs are the best metal rock I have ever heard in a long time. The cd has great songs including " New Abortion" and " My Plague". The songs have there seperate beat,you will never hear the same beat twice. This cd is a step up from there self-titled cd Slipknot-Slpknot. With these songs you can listen to them over and over again and still have a appresiation for Slipknot Iowa. Slipknot's lyrics are great, The whole Slipknot band is great.

I tried to listen with an open mind, but there isn't very much plain good music here. In fact, most of the songs are indistinguishable from one another. First the redeeming qualities of this album: the drummer is pretty good; at least he seems talented. Some of the songs are really catchy. My favorite is people People=..., which is a so-so song. Now on to the bad: the song structures are very primitive. The lyrics are laughable. The vocalist isn't very good. Musically there isn't much groundbreaking going on here. The masks are a gimmick; I know they insist that they are not but it certainly is the only thing that seperates them from the other rap/metal acts out there right now. Its a shame that bands like this all cite Mike Patton as a huge influence, because he is just ungodly talented, and, well, Slipknot isn't.

Slipknot-Iowa is one of my personal favorite albums. The songs are very touching, and the music is really great. Slipknot is one of my favorite bands, Iowa is a very impressing album without a doubt. Some songs I like are "My Plague", "Skin Ticket", and "People = S***"

The most anticipated metal release of 2001, Iowa is one of the best metal albums ive ever heard. Heres a song by song review: 1-(515)-3 stars- a weird screaming track that only lasts for about a minute, but it starts off the album well. 2-People=S**t-5 stars-screaming intro and goes into avery headbanging metal riff. Chorus is the only letdown of this song. 3-Disasterpiece-4 stars-a good song but the bridge is repetitive 4-My Plague-5 stars-the second single off the album great verse and a singing chorus-great song 5-Everything Ends-4 stars-slow opening of the chorus but gets better until the bridge which is a letdown 6-Heretic anthem-3 stars-the most overrated song on the album that is pretty botring 7-Gently-4 stars-haunting track that slows down the pace after the other songs 8-Left Behind-5 stars-the least heaviest track on the album is also the first single. Does get boring after a while however. 9-The Shape-5 stars- has an excellent chorus riff and a haunting verse. Great headbanging track 10-I Am Hated-5 stars-There's rap all through the verse but the chorus is very heavy and another good headbanging track 11-Skin Ticket-3 stars-A bit like Gently but not as good 12-New Abortion-4 stars-A good song but people say it's a lot better than it actually is. The bridge is a bit boring. 13-Metabolic-5 stars-The chorus is a bit boring but the verses and th bridge are inspired with some of the best riffs on the album. 14-Iowa-3 stars-15 minutes of haunting music and screaming that makes you wait for the climax to come but it never does. I would recommend this to fans of all metal genres but be warned-its not for everyone. Sample the tracks before you buy it!

Really Angry Album. I love it! Especially tracks "My Plague", "People = ...", "I Am Hated", "Disasterpiece", "The Heretic Anthem" and "Left Behind" touch me. They remind me of my own life situation. The vocalist has a good, strong voice.

Slipknot rocks, but they do sound an aweful lot like Sepultura. Mostly it's the voice that's similar. The music and songwriting just isn't as good artistically. There's also a lot to be said for attempting to appeal to certain age groups. Some artists really know how to go with a certain type of image, Rob Zombie being a perfect example. Others more or less try to invent something for the sake of sales, and are only in it for the money. That's what I get from Slipknot. Spewing out f**k amd s**t in every other line of a song is something anybody can do. It lends a rebel appeal to the younger crowd, and I'm sure it sells, but if you're looking for quality metal, you might want to look somewhere else.

Slipknot are back for revenge,And god help anyone that gets in their way."Iowa" is filled with aggression like only slipknot can bring.Songs such as "Disasterpiece","Left Behind" and "My Plague" are prime examples of that aggression.While songs like "The Shape" and "Iowa" bring to light something new and exiting."Iowa" picks up right where the self titled debut left off,kicking a** like only slipknot can.

This album is terrible their first album wasn't that good but better than this, all they are is a sepultura rip off band and they need a new gimic because the masks just aren't shocking anymore.
