As and "essentials" book, this one hits the mark. I was looking for a basic understanding of MPLS and LDP. I picked up and started reading the "MPLS and VPN Architectures" book from Cisco Systems. Quite frankly, that book had too much detail and kept putting me to sleep. Stephen Thomas provided an easy to read introduction to the subject. For me, the rest of the book provided an easy to read refresher for subjects I was suppose to already know. I'd recommend this book for anyone looking for an introduction to IP or a quick refresher before interviewing.

This book would explain the working of IP routing in excellent detail with nice analogies and illustrations. It serves as a great resource for the beginner and the expert alike. Highly recommended for interviews.
