There are other maps of Ireland that you can purchase. The Michelin Ireland map #712 is a must when you purchase the Michelin Green Guide for Ireland. The map and book are keyed so that they are to be used together. Very helpful when you are traveling around the country or better yet driving around the country side. But even with the best map you are still going to ask directions for directions because you might be lost. Another thought is to have a GPS when you are driving. But having a good map is essential. You are learning the country and have an idea of where you want to be.

I was seduced into buying this map by the name Michelin and all that name invokes. This is NOT, however, the map to take on a road trip in your little rental car. When opened, it is the size of a Volkswagen! It is enormous and cannot be fully opened by your passenger seat navigator. That being said, it is a great map for planning your itinerary and for framing - if you have a really big wall - as a memento of your fantastic trip to Ireland.

Just returned from Ireland. I had three different maps and our group had 2 GPS units. This map was better than the other maps and the GPS! It has the place names in both English and Gaelic, a big plus in areas where the signs are only in Gaelic. The only drawback is its size, but that is what makes it so accurate. We drove around the entire coast of Ireland, and this map pointed us in the right direction!
