I felt this was a great and easy read. It was predictable, but that did not make it any less enjoyable. Would recommend for someone looking for light reading.

    Nice Holiday Story

As a Melody Carlson fan, this isn't her best work. I found it predictable, but in a pleasant way. I liked the way the story being told from both perspectives, but as a whole the book lacked depth. It's a quick read to get your mind off the stress of the holidays. I would recommend her non-holiday books like Finding Alice or Looking for Cassandra Jane.

    It was okay

It had a nice storyline. The characters seemed depressed. But it had a predictable ending and I did enjoy that.

    Good book with interesting characters

Enjoyable light reading. Melody Carlson developed her characters very well, but at times the flow and movement of the story felt a little stiff and awkward. I was interested enough to finish the story to the end, which had a satisfying ending.

    An Irish Christmas/ sweet story

I enjoyed this novella. It didn't have that much about Christmas, other than they travel to Ireland during the holidays, but it was a story that kept my attention. A recently widowed mother and her college-aged son think they know everything about one another, but neither has a clue. If you are dealing with letting go of a grown child, and going through the whole empty nest thing, you might relate to much of their dialogue. She is constantly trying to pacify him and he is a spoiled, selfish young man that thinks the world does or should revolve around him. The story is told in both the mother's point of view and in the son's point of view. It takes place in the fifties, so I guess Mother's were taken for granted a bit more then. I think you will enjoy it, but if you are a mom of a young man you may need to turn your Nook off and just breathe for a minute:)

    Predictable but good...

Melody Carlson is the bestselling author of more than 200 books, including My Son, the Savior and The Christmas Bus. She lives with her husband in Sisters, Oregon.

For Colleen, life is spinning out of control. She just lost her husband, and her relationship with her young adult son Jamie is crumbling. Should she confess to him the secret that has been haunting her for twenty years?

Jamie has a few secrets of his own. When he announces his plans to join the military, Colleen decides it's time for the two of them to take a trip together--to Ireland.

The truth they discover there could fulfill both their dreams in a way neither ever thought possible.

An Irish Christmas is a captivating story of love, deception, and secret passions, from popular and prolific author Melody Carlson.

My Review - this book was just okay for me. It too me until about page 80 or so for it to really get good for me and even then it was predictable. I loved the actual story about Jamie, Liam and Colleen though. And the ending was good, which as I've said before is rare for me to like an ending. I'll be reading more Melody Carlson and hoping for less predictably.

    Enjoyable Christmas read

An interesting read. At first I did not like Jaime but I enjoyed reading about him as he matured later in the story. I recommend this book as a good Christmas read.

    Slow Read

This was hard to stay with to the end. Definitely had to set it down and come back to it later a couple of times.
