Overview

The Irish Pubs Photo Book Volume I is a "coffee table" style photo book containing color photos of beautiful authentic traditional Irish pubs in Ireland, great for viewing on a Nook, especially a color Nook. The photo book contains over 60 different Irish pub photos. This photo book is an effort to capture and preserve the beautiful architecture and art of the traditional Irish pub, an endangered species in Ireland. The reader may look at this book as the start of an historical preservation project, with more Irish pub photo books to follow.

Inside you will find a collection of my favorite Irish pub photos taken in recent years on numerous trips to Ireland. Pubs have family names (Murphy’s, O’Neills, O’Connor’s, etc.) or specialty theme names (The Anchor Tavern, The Long Hall, etc.) over their doors. Some family names over the door are in the Irish language - O’Murchu (O’Murphy) and O’Suilleabain (O’Sullivan). Counties Cork, Dublin, Kerry, Mayo, Sligo, and Tipperary are well represented in this Irish pub photo feast. May you be blessed with an opportunity to travel to Ireland to visit some of these fine Irish public houses and experience the unique ambience and pleasures that each pub has to offer.

Five percent of this book's sales' royalties support selected Irish youth programs in Ireland.

Meet the Author

A Trinity College Dublin, Ireland graduate, Mike developed his interest and passion for photographing Ireland’s many ancient sites, castles, landscapes, and pubs through his annual trips to Ireland to visit family and friends there. Mike believes in capturing the raw beauty of Ireland in his photos, without much post processing touch-up. He named his photography business Ballycastle Photography in honor of his Irish grandparents who were both born near Ballycastle, a quaint Irish village on the wild, scenic Atlantic coast of north County Mayo, Ireland. His Irish grandparents immigrated to America in 1912 and settled in Baltimore, Maryland. In addition to his love of Ireland travel photography, Mike helps people around the world find their Irish ancestors’ origins and birthplaces with his Irish Ancestry Research service business, Ballycastle Irish Genealogy.
“I hope that you enjoyed viewing these special photos of Irish pubs. There is a special fascinating story associated with each one. May you be blessed with an opportunity to visit Ireland some day yourself, to view and visit these colorful traditional Irish pubs in person, and to experience the unique charm and fun that every Irish pub in Ireland has to offer”
Mike
