Mary O'Hara possesses a lovely, clear voice, glassy and imbued with a slight Irish accent. Her voice is enough to buy this disc, but if you are looking to learn about Irish culture in the process you may also find this interesting: the set of all-traditional songs as well as some 1800s Elizabethan ballads, with songs such as 'Dia Luan, Dia Muart' and 'Down by the Glenside' are centuries old themselves. This only increases thier loveley elegance, especially when O'Hara croons to a baby in 'A Garten Mother's Lullaby'. It is an interesting side note that O'Hara is the only musician on the record- all the tracks are composed of her clear voice (an instrument in itself) and the harp played skillfully by O'Hara herself.
