A big slice of non-stop, action-packed, wise-cracking fun from the Ketty Jay, and Captain Darien Frey.

Things are finally looking good for Captain Frey and his crew. The Ketty Jay has been fixed up good as new.

They've got their first taste of fortune and fame. And, just for once, nobody is trying to kill them.

In fact, she's offered them a job - one that will take them deep into the desert heart of Samarla, the land of their ancient enemies. To a place where the secrets of the past lie in wait for the unwary. Even Trinica Dracken, Frey's ex-fiancée and long-time nemesis, has given up her quest for revenge.

Secrets that might very well cost Frey everything.

Join the crew of the Ketty Jay on their greatest adventure yet: a story of mayhem and mischief, roof-top chases and death-defying races, murderous daemons, psychopathic golems and a particularly cranky cat.

This time, Frey's in a race against the clock for the ultimate prize: to save his own life.

Capt. Darian Frey and the rest of the crew of the airship Ketty Jay are used to getting out of dangerous situations, but stealing an ancient relic from a Samarlan museum inadvertently triggers a demonic curse. Frey needs to return the relic to the place it was originally found before nightfall in 12 days, or a demon will be released to kill him in a particularly horrifying fashion. VERDICT Fans of the TV show Firefly will love the rollicking steampunk adventures of the Ketty Jay's motley crew. The action races along, with adventures ranging from tense and gripping to hilarious and absurd—and sometimes both. The crew members are wildly different, but Wooding allows all of them moments to shine and become real to the reader. Although this is the third volume of the series (following 2011's The Black Lung Captain), new readers will have no trouble falling in love with the sailors of the Ketty Jay.
Publishers Weekly
With action, adventure, and blistering stupidity, the crew of the airship Ketty Jay lives down to its poor reputation, as Wooding takes a third careening trip (after The Black Lung Captain) through his chaotic steampunk world. Capt. Darian Frey would be a hero to his country if only he had a scrap of foresight or impulse control. Instead, he has a train heist to run for fellow captain Trinica Dracken, who wants to acquire a valuable relic. Frey finds out the hard way that pinched relics have a way of pinching back. Returning the relic to its rightful place is Frey’s only hope, because the cyborg Iron Jackal has been sent to retrieve it, possibly at the cost of Frey’s life. While there are moments of terror and scenes of bloody warfare, Wooding rarely lets momentum take its course. Characters spring in and out of focus, and the action is frequently interrupted by banter or slapstick comedy, even as bullets whiz overhead. The mishmash is sometimes thrilling, sometimes funny, frequently frustrating, and eventually surprisingly satisfying. (Mar.)
From the Publisher
"This is a wonderful story built on a solid foundation. Wooding has something wonderful going on here and I hope he keeps writing entertaining stories like this. The Iron Jackal was a real treat to read and review.." - Pop Cults

"I enjoyed it thoroughly. Wooding’s characters are diverse, fully conceived, and vibrant, and he uses each scene not only to build the tension, but to build his cast’s relevance to the story and to each other." - Attack of the Books

"Wooding fabricated an incredible fantasy that will keep you turning pages and anticipating what’s next!" - Atomic Moo

"Fans of the steampunk genre will greatly enjoy The Iron Jackal." - Geek Girl Project

“THE IRON JACKAL, an enjoyable edge-of-the-seat romp full of derring-do and swashbuckle. If you’re looking for a fast, fun science fiction novel that won’t break your brain, grab a copy of THE IRON JACKAL.” Count Gore

"The story itself is non-stop fun. From the first chapter that begins in the middle of the action to the very final chapter, expect lots of explosions, gunfights, escaping from almost-dire situations and heroics that seem almost insane. This one is a page-turner and you’ll find yourself always wondering what can happen next. The answer is, apparently, anything." -  Fangirl Confessions
