Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Mother Hen is looking all over the farm for her baby chick. "Is that my chick?" she asks all the different animals she meets in her search. Each animal she encounters is only partially visible, so Mother Hen thinks she sees her chick's mouth, his eyes, his feet or perhaps his leg. The most clever and innovative feature of this book is that it is a virtually indestructible, interactive story. The extra-thick cardboard pages flip open in a sliding manner to reveal each animal. While the subject of a mother bird looking for her baby (or vice-versa) is one that has been around awhile, this tale is special because it presents itself in an entirely new fashion. 2001, Little Simon Books, .
