This book i thought was poorly written. a very important topic. but yet so much missing detail. i was not able to pull myself into this book , and when i would start too it would just change setting again. It kept flpping from past to present and skiping time and alot of information. Kepted bring new people into the book later on saying she's known from the beging but were not mentioned if barely mentioned at all. gave thanks to people that helped her, many time and just saying she can't remember their names. The back the book enphasized family's love. but i felt like the family was abandoned. she didnt eveen think bout her sister at first when she was taken to gas chambers with her mother, which she straight out said they were going to their death in the gas chambers. in the story no one mentioned that to them when arriving. but yet she knew of em already? most the memoirs no one new when arriving because its one those things u just think people are not capable of or that they will just put them to work.. just made a poem bout her (the younger sister) a page or two later. theres alot questions left unanswered in the book. for example it didnt even right about her brothers homecomming. just had a letter stating once he was better he would come to them... how did she get over typhod fever? in their conditions/? book just skips ahead after her sister gave her a portion of her bread for the day. which usually meant death sharing ur small amount with another. and then she's all better. how did she not think to atleast tap her sister next to her int he death march. so she knew her sister other sister was acting strange which ended up being true, they escaped while the one sister stayed behind. ran to late. wat happened to her family after everything. only talked about the one sister getting married. did he ship off again? the new husband? how did things change and cope with her brother being back? what about the sister that was barely mentioned after them getting to NY .
twards the end she is not coping with her new life, not that well at all. but then next page/chapter shes talking to her dead mother telling her bout her husband and baby cause she's pregnant. to much missing detail makes me feel like the writter is hiding something or being deceptive. and i would never know what really happened. This is based on true events, there should have been alot more information what they went threw, it felt like the story was only half there. If you choose to try to read this book, i hope you enjoy it.
