From the moment they arrive on the island nothing seems to work out as Jennifer planned. She did not plan on Celeste's boyfriend Noah showing up and staying the entire summer with them, or Amy taking in every stray animal and guy she met, or falling in love with Dylan, who is only passing though on his way down the coast before joining the army. Best friends Jen, Amy, and Chelsea spend the summer before their first year of college working and living on an island off Texas. Jen, the obsessive planner, thinks she has the summer all plotted out, from house rules to chores to a budget. She's thrown for a major loop when living on their own turns out to be much more complex and unpredictable than she could have guessed. Chelsea's boyfriend moves in, Jen falls hard for the mysterious Dylan, and Amy moves through a rotating cast of boys while trying to find romance. Throw in some stray pets, some big parties, and lots of communication problems and it makes for one unforgettable summer. What was supposed to be the girls' last summer together, the summer of "us," turns into one ruled by boys and hormones. The content is fairly clean and wholesome given that the girls are 18 and without any adult supervision. Uneven characterization weakens the story. This is light fare with little depth and almost no plot. Despite the predictable turns the story takes, it's still a quick, fun read that will likely appeal to a wide audience of teenage girls hungry for this type of book.     so amazing!

    this was such an awesome book. Rachel Hawthorne is a very talented author and you could really feel the chemistry between Jennifer and Dylan.

    okay book!!

    #1 BOOK!!

    I loved how Jen secretly falls in love with Dylan and doesn`t tell anyone and then he just ups and leaves, breaking her heart. Then after a few Jen sees him standing before her and instantly breaks down. But then Jen and Dylan are reunited after they sort out their feelings for each other and plan to spend the summer together but Dylan still has to go into the army although its scaring Jen. BEST BOOK!!!SO DRAMATIC AND ROMANTIC!!GREAT SUMMER READ!!

    I think this was a nice book to read. You can acually learn from the main girl's mistakes and you can feel her fealings, and the concept is good, and it makes you want to scream into the book to make something happen becuse it feels real, and some parts are unexpecting! It's a very good book!!

    I started to read this book and it bored me. My friend had read it and said its boring until you get to the end but i returned it anyway, i had no interest in it. Its all my friends least favorite book from this author. I would not recommend it ;) So far Caribbean Cruising is great<3=)

    very cute!

    i just finished the book about an hour ago and i like it very much, there were also parts that i didnt like, i wasnt very fond of chelsea but thankfully she wasnt the main character. jen was a great main character i like how she developed throughout the book and dylan i must say sounded pretty hot deffinatly a good read, very easy and had some very cute moments between jen and dylan that i loved

    The best book ever!

    I read this book about 2 weeks ago & I loved it! I bought Island Girls & Thrill Ride by Rachel Hawthorne just beacause I liked the cover=). But when I actually read it, I was impressed! Now I have soooo many books by Rachel Hawthorne!

    I love RACHEL HAWTHORNE

    this was the best book. it made me cry. its a book where u can read it forever. i wish she would make a sequel..! it was awesome!!!!!!!! i love all of her books!!!! i LOVE TEEN SUMMER ROMANCE STORIES!!

    amazingggg :

    i love this book. i read it while i was on vacation last summer. every spare moment of my time was spent sitting outside reading this book,, i couldnt put it down. its amazing how real and relatable the characters are. it made me laugh and cry. i gave it to my best friend who dosent even read that much and she finished it in a couple of days. i would recommend it to anyone who likes teen romance novels. ITS THE BEST :)

    an awesome book

    i loved this book. it was soo sad at parts but had an awesome ending. i would recomend this book to any girl who loves a good teen-romance book (which are my favorite types of books). it was just one of those books you cant put down so i ended up reading this book in one day. every teen girl should read this book.

    A BIG Rachel Hawthorn Fan!

    I loved this book. It was amazing. So good. I cried throughout because it was touching. You'll love this book. I lent it ro my cousin and she ABSOLUTLY LOVED this book. She even begged me for her to read it one more time!
