Editorial Reviews

Parnormal Romanc Guild - Penelope Adams
Four Stars-
Island of Secrets is a hard book to categorize. Yes - its about time travel, yes - its a mystery, yes - its a romance, but amongst all this there are dark and strange happenings mingled in with breathtakingly beautiful moments. You are pulled into the story, and are able to see and feel all the beauty of the old south in the 1700s, and then back you come to present.
Coffee Time Romance - Laurie Jenkins
The imagery is striking, and the story conceptualization is enticing, carefully crafted, and filled with deceit, jealousy, and an enduring, unconquerable love.

ISLAND OF SECRETS
"What's not to love? Time travel, romance that lives across time? Great book. A story well told with an ingenious plot device."

Lila reluctantly agrees to masquerade as her reporter friend who is laid up with a messed up ankle. It could be the scoop of a lifetime for her friend, so Lila agrees to pose as Cassie for a day. She rides a boat to an island to meet Shane, the owner. His ex-girlfriend told the world that his resort has ghosts. So Shane agrees to let one reporter come to the island to prove her wrong. What happens next will change both of their lives forever. Or were they already changed and just didn't know it? I'll admit it right now, I don't care for time-travel books. I've read quite a few and just couldn't get into them. But occasionally I'll find one that really interests me. This book just happened to be one of them. I couldn't put it down. The plot and layout was good, the characters were engaging and the author has a way of pulling you into the story and sweeping you along with the characters. One thing that I don't like about most time-travel books is the inconsistencies with what happens to the characters when they go missing from the present. Ms. Gibbs addressed this and it made the story more appealing to me. I won't spoil it, but I loved the ending. It was sweet, but not what I was expecting. On another note: This book could potentially be labeled as Christian fiction. I noticed some things throughout the book that, to me, pinpointed that the author was Christian. For those of you who don't care for this type of book - it is very subtle, you might not even notice. But I noticed her reference to God a couple of times and liked that element in the book. I received this book free of charge from the author in exchange for my honest review.

If an author took historical fiction, time travel, romance, and mystery, mixing them together, what you would pull out of the oven is Island of Secrets. The author has found this unique blend to delight readers from many genres. The characterizations are strong, the romance is intriguing, and the story stuck in my head after I finished the book. I never wanted the relationship between the protagonist and her love interest to end, because I was so invested in them. This is just what historical romance should be.

Take a modern day journalist, toss in some intrigue and stir it up with some paranormal time travel and what you get is Island of Secrets. This is one of those books that will surprise you at every turn. A woman who is pretending to be someone else on a mysterious island where nothing is as it seems. Everyone has secrets, including the island. Will anyone survive when the secrets are revealed? You should really read this book....I guarantee you will have an entertaining visit to the Island of Secrets.

I usually love time travel books. This jumped around so much and did not explain things well. I had a difficult time reading all of it.

This story had so much potential, but the grammatical errors were very distracting thus making it difficult to read. The characters were two dimensional and not very interesting. The author should have spent more time setting up the scene and not rely on witty (yet not very good) dialog. If you don't care about grammar, punctuation errors galore, unrealistic 18th century behavior and speech patterns, a lot of plot holes, then this story is for you.
