Overview

Brace yourself for a thrilling high-seas adventure and dare to set sail for the Isle of Fire."A great explosion rocked the crowded harbor. The ferocious blaze engulfed ship after ship expanding the circle of destruction in mere heartbeats. The fire rain had been unleashed."As Cat’s memory returns, he realizes that he has lived two very different lives. Now he must choose whether to return to the ways of his notorious father and join the evil Merchant, or defy the Merchant and risk his life to save his friends. The best-selling Isle of Swords adventure continues in Isle of Fire as ancient mariners rise from legend and cut an all-too-real swath of destruction across the Atlantic. The newly formed Wolf Fleet scours the Caribbean, hunting the pirates they once called comrades. And in the pitiless winds of a monstrous hurricane, whole fleets will be blasted apart and devoured.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

"In the second installment of Batson’s epic pirate trilogy, good Christian pirates and warrior monks battle the godless pirate Thorne and his heathen Norse warriors while his son Cat fights on the side of good. Anthony Brawner’s full voice is a pleasure, though sometimes his pacing is a bit slow. He jumps from one exaggerated accent to the next, creating aural caricatures that not only entertain but also match the story’s campy tone perfectly. Appropriately melodramatic music signals chapter breaks as the story skips among the perilous predicaments plaguing the crews of several ships that are sailing in impossible conditions and defying the laws of physics and basic seamanship."

Cat stays with the Brethren monks for awhile, learning. He soon learns that they want him to captain a ship to search for a certain evil called the Merchant, who has been providing evil men with evil things for hundreds if years. Cat, with Anne as his Quartermaster, sails off to find his disappearing lair. Will their search be successful? Will they find and defeat the evil Merchant? At the same time, Bartholomew Thorne is learning the secrets behind the Vikings. He gains command over a fleet of special ships with a liquid fire, called fire rain that is hard to put out. With evil plans to burn the British Isle and avenge his wife's death, Bartholomew Thorne sets off to put it all into action. With wonderfully created characters and amazing plot, you will be drawn into a world of danger and peril, care and kindness, good and evil. I highly recommend this book.

For years, The Brethren have fought to keep evil forces at bay. But when The Merchant, who has been supplying men with evil for centuries, shows his face, all the training and preparation must be put to use. Griffin "Cat" Thorne puts his nautical experience to work helping The Brethren in their war with The Merchant. With Anne, Delcan, Stede, Red Eye, and Jaques St. Pierre aling for the ride, this is one high-seas adventure you won't want to miss. Sequel to Isle of Swords (you really have to read them in order.)

Privateer Declan Ross and his fleet of pirate hunters have turned from their ways to hunt down those who still hold to piracy. But when news is heard that the notorious pirate Bartholomew Thorne is still alive, he may need more than privateers to stop him. Cat Thorne and Anne Ross, along with monks of the Brethren are tasked with hunting down The Merchant; a evil arms dealer who has supplied weapons and other things for conquerors and thugs throughout history. But will any survive in The Merchant's trap filled lair? Commodore Brandon Blake of His Majesties Navy is helping Declan Ross hunt down Bartholomew Thorne, when in an unfortunate turn of events he is stripped of his ships and his command. But he must decide between what is lawful and what is right. Wayne Thomas Batson weaves a spell binding High Seas adventure that will captivate readers. I would recommend this book to anyone 10 and up who loves pirates, action, adventure, and suspense! Once again, my hat is off to you Mr Batson!!!

This book is better than the first (Isle of Swords)! Filled with Cat's memory coming back, a hilarious french man, black powder (Kablewee!), hard decisions, interesting questions (two of them to be exact), the defeat of an almost undefeatable blood thirsty "merchant",and much, much, much more great stuff. This book is one that can't be missed. Take your chance and read it!

Declan Ross, now employed by the monks and England as a 'privateer' out to capture other pirates, sets after ruthless Captain Thorne, whom is not as dead as once thought. Meanwhile, Cat leaves Ross to captain the monks' fleet with Anne Ross in a quest to find the evil Merchant and take him down. Captain Thorne has not been idle, and enlists the help of Vikings and their mysterious fire to attack Britain. The Merchant, on the other hand, is much more dangerous than either Cat or Anne thought. Isle of Fire is the epic conclusion, if he doesn't write another book, of this series. It's some of the best pirate fantasy I have ever read, both for youth and adult! :D

In this sequel to the Isle of Swords all our favorite characters are safe, Thorne is dead, or is he? Cat is not so sure. Mr.Ross and his daughter are still pirates, but now they they find they can work for the government? They even have made friends with an pirate hunter, so are the adventures over? Nay! The great evil, the merchant raises his ugly head, and hate filled heart. And the secret it out, Cat's father is Thorne! Don't miss getaways, sword fighting and suspense as it holds the attention like few other books do.
