We are not alone!
In exploring and colonizing the galaxy, humanity discovers evidence of eighteen sentient species. Seventeen of them had not developed interstellar travel. Those were destroyed by the species that did reach the stars. That space-faring eighteenth decimated the human colony on the Semi-Autonomous World Troy.
A Marine Force Recon platoon sent to investigate is wiped out almost to the last man. In reaction, the North American Union assembles the largest army seen since the major wars of the 20th Century.

A Marine Corps Combat Force is sent to "kick in the door," backed up by a four-division Army corps to take the planet back. The initial landing is unopposed. It isn't until the fleet carrying the Army corps is approaching Troy that the enemy strikes, with devastating effect.

Sherman has obviously been there and done that for military operations. This book makes you feel like you're there.

I love Star fist. And I love this story. And I can't wait for the next book.

An excellent read.  David Sherman has done an outstanding job in portraying what the Marine Corps of the future will represent.  The Marines of the future are the same as the Marines of today and of the past 238 years of the Corps. David Sherman does an excellent job of showing how Marines "Adapt and Overcome"; the action reflects Marines at the platoon and squad levels closing with and destroying the enemy, even non-human aliens.   I would enthusiastically recommend "Issue in Doubt" to anyone who enjoys fast paced action and can use their imagination.  It was difficult for me to put this book down.

Loved the book but at 7.99 each can't afford the rest as I am retired and have limited funds. :-(
