All Music Guide - Paula Edelstein
Mindi Abair's GRP debut, It Just Happens That Way, showcases the multi-talented artist's pop-influenced vision of jazz. The saxophonist/vocalist/percussionist and composer offers listeners 12 exceptional tunes on which she plays alto and soprano saxophones, keyboards, vox, and wind chimes. Best known for her featured solos on tour with the Backstreet Boys, Mindi Abair is both invigorating and exciting. She finds a new challenge with Eagle-Eye Cherry's smash hit "Save Tonight," on which she showcases her inviting vocals, which are reminiscent of Norah Jones and Sheryl Crow. more from this reviewer

Puts you in a great mood!

Saw Mindi at Jazz on the Vine for the first time. We liked her performance so much we ordered her CD when we got home since the lines were so long to get one there. If you like Jazz, try this one.

    Impressive Debut.

I brought the cd after hearing Lucy's on the radio. My expectations was blown away immediately. Ms. Abair proves that she has talent and is on her way to becoming a jazz legend someday. Looking forward to hearing more from this rising musician.

    mindy is awesome

my husband and i love to listen to smooth jazz so we recently attended a show where mindy abair was part of the line up. i must say, mindy stole the show! all of the songs on her CD are absolutely fabulous! she is extremely talented, I haven't heard many female saxaphone players who can perform as good as she can.

Finally...an upbeat album with style and class

I highly recommend that anyone who hasn’t heard of Mindi Abair should buy her CD or at least check out her web site and listen to some of her songs. She truly is the most talented saxophone player that I’ve heard in awhile. Not only is she talented but she has a great sense of style, wonderful stage presence and a hard work ethic. She has everything going for her as a young artist and I predict great things for her. Her album, “It Just Happens That Way” is one of my favorites because of it’s great blend of upbeat tunes as well as some more mellow tracks as well. There aren’t many albums out there that you can play from start to finish but hers is one of them. I can’t wait to see what Mindi does in the future with her talent!

Great addition to any jazz collection...

The new Mindi Abair CD is best listened to when you are in a mood to relax. Most of the songs are down tempo, minus her cover of the Eagle Eye Cherry song ¿Save Tonight.¿ The CD is really worth the listen. It explores many different genres from slow swing to a more fusion sound. I read that this is her first CD after being a studio musician for the likes of the Backstreet Boys and Mandy Moore, but it doesn¿t show. She is an obvious talent who¿s CD explores many different moods and is especially great for her debut attempt.
