R2R (LoP) : It Started with a Whisper

I received a free copy, through LoP, in exchange for a review.

Being part of the legendary MacClarity clan, Ernest or to be precise Puppy, has a lot of interesting things to contend with. Puppy is named after his grandfather Ernest and the family lore goes, you can light the incense, in the elephant holder and wish for something and Ernest will make it come true. All families have stories, but this family is slightly different in theirs. Getting ready for summer, Puppy is ending his school year, with the worst teacher ever, Miss Pritchett. She makes everyones life a living hell, but she targets Puppy, day in and day out. Packing up, to leave for their summer camp, Puppy asks for something and Ernest hears him. But, the outcome of this secret wish is not at all what it appears and draws all of the characters closer together.

'If I'd been paying closer attention in the months and years before that summer I would've seen the truth. It was painfully obvious who we are and who I am. I deserve what I got for being so dense and, in the end, I forgave myself for my blindness because it saves a life, perhaps tow. Besides, all the paths that I could possibly have taken would all lead to the same place. Ernest made sure of it. So that strange summer that began with a haircut and a wish would end in a disaster no matter what, and it was exactly what I asked for.'

What a fun new look, at the family myth and magic. All of the characters are really well developed and I loved the interaction between Puppy and the nasty llama. Very fast paced and well thought out. The ending was a little predictable, but the story was so well written that it didn't matter. Loved it and cannot wait to read more by this author!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from Lovers of Paranormal
This is book had all things paranormal! From a spiting llama to an ancestor ghost. It was a fun and entertaining read full of crazy and wonderful characters. It’s about a boy name Puppy who comes from a very odd family. Even though Puppy doesn’t really believe in the stories about Ernest, he calls upon him to take care of Miss Pritchett. That’s when all the secrets and fun start to surface.

Puppy comes from a different family than other people. His family has powers even he isn't sure about, crazy animals, a ghost of one of his ancestors and the family is actually called the Pack which includes people who might not be related by blood but are the same thing to them. The fun really begins when a teacher makes Puppy angry and he enlist the help of the family ghost to pay them back. That is just the beginning to the fun as the Pack goes to the Camp for the summer and mystery fun, growing up and more happen to Puppy and the rest of the Pack kids.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this book. It completely blowed me away in how magnificent it is. This story is how Puppy begins to really grow up in a strange family. He does a lot of things that make him seem the kid he is but towards the end you see he is starting to grow up. This book has plenty of laughs as the kids get into different stuff and with the ghost around it is always interesting. The author does a fantastic job writing this book as you feel you are in the Camp with Pack truly you feel part of the Pack by the time you finish this book. I really hope to see more of this story as Puppy and the other have so much potential to go on. I am trying to review this without spoilers so I will say for a story with morals that you can read underneath all the other stuff, a different kind of family with powers and a boy slowly becoming an adult pick this up. It is fantastic.
