Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jeanne K. Pettenati
The words in this picture dictionary are grouped by topic. Thirty-two scenes are depicted, with the Italian words and translations provided for each item in a scene. This book, which is part of the "Let's Learn ... Picture Dictionary" series, is a solid supplement to textbooks in early language classes. It helps children to visualize the context in which certain words are used and to reinforce Italian vocabulary. My only criticism is with the book design. Some of the scenes are quite congested and may overwhelm beginning language students. An Italian-English glossary and index with over 1,550 words is provided at the end of the book.

The Best Italian Book For Chiuldren

I have selected several Italian picture dictionary's from the library so I can teach my children to speak Italian and this is by far the best. Not only does it have all of the words, it also has a pronunciatian key and a guide to rules on pronunciation. Instead of having numbers from 1 to 10 like the other 2 books I borrowed it had numbers from 1 to 100 and then went over places like 1st, 2nd, 3rd all the way to 10th. There were so many great things to learn that I am buying the book form Barnes and Noble today. The main thing I like about it is that unlike other books where you are reading words and hoping you are saying them correctly, in this book you know because it tells you. I have learned so much myself from this book that we plan to use it as a guide this summer while in Rome!
