This is a wonderful book of exploring most of the regions in Italy with colorful pictures. The pictures are truly appealing. The only drawback is it won't explore the city in detail more than 2 paragraphs, you need another guidebook to get a full grip of the history of churches, monuments.... As far as travel is concerned, I normally read the DK Eyewitness Guide along with the Dummies series. DK Eyewitness is for the pictures, so I know exactly what I am looking for. The 'Dummies series' are for the details.

This travel guide is the best compendium of travel/sightseeing of all major cities and many towns in Italy. I give this book away free to my personal tour customers, whom I drive through Italy on customized vacations. Superb illustrations, details of real italian elements of style, including archetecture, history, cuisine, art and more. There are many other books to compete with this title, yet, I've not found one that is as good. Well worth the money. Plus it's printed in full color an quality glossy stock, and the binding lasts, thru many, many page turnings.

The DK Italy guide is very detailed and gives excellent maps and suggestions to help you plan an Italy trip. In addition, the photgraphs give an excellent idea of what to expect. This guide is much better than any other titles that I checked out.
