Bought this book in-store, on a Bargain Priced display at $9.98. One picture is rendered in reverse (p40-41) as a result of backwards negative placement (if film photograh) or 180 degree horizontal flip (if digital). Words on hotel and bridge are backwards. Huh? Sloppy editing mistake. Out of focus on far too many pictures (p144) Siena Cathedral detail should be as crisp as possible, but is awkwardly fuzzy. This plagues the book throughout. Yet fabulous pictures on pps78-79 and p146. Lighting choices are poor on p169-171. These buldings should have popped, but flopped. There's no way I'll accept that these were purposeful artistic choices. Some pictures appear to be faded 30-year-old photographs, others are pristine digital renderings. Typos. You get the drift....There are so many inconsistencies in either the pre- or post-production that I'm not sure what to make of this book. It was clearly thrown together using some leftovers and brand new shots. At ten bucks it's priced about right. It won't come sealed - so flip thru it before you buy. Don't mean to rant, but I've purchased far better coffe-table books for the same or less money.

Stunning photos yet seems to lack detail shots and coverage throughout Italy. Great for a coffee table if you've been already, but not something I would get as a gift for someone else.
