Attractive as it is useful, Italy: Instructions for Use is an indispensable pocket guide, and an ideal companion to any other guidebook.

Just remember: when all else fails, read the Instructions!

From preparation to the return flight home, this is the only guide dedicated to the practicalities of Italian travel, designed to provide the specific, angst-relieving, relationship-saving information you need, at the moment you need it.

Explore Italy joyously & fearlessly, with expert knowledge at your fingertips!

From the Author
Everything about Italy intrigued me from the first moment I arrived in Venice in 1995. However, with as much preparation as I had done for my travels, on my arrival I was astounded by what I still didn't understand. The result was a myriad of errors that cost me both time and money -- the two most precious resources on my twelve-day sojourn.

My subsequent travels have allowed me develop a host of Italian friends and professional contacts, along with an evolving and specific understanding of how Italy works. The resulting pocket guidebook contains all the information I wish I'd had when I first traveled here, designed to assist Americans in particular in making the most of their limited time in this spectacular and enticing country. Vi auguro un belissimo viaggio!

"A simple guidebook offering a wealth of basic travel advice, Pocket-sized for easy carrying, Italy: Instructions For Use is a simple guidebook offering a wealth of basic travel advice organized so that one can consult it for quick answers to common questions, anywhere, anytime. Color-coded sections further speed up one's ability to find answers swiftly. Italy: Instructions for Use is not a conventional travel manuel with hotel and restaurant listings; it focuses especially upon culture shock and other problems, from how to get around to dealing with the post office, changing currency and much more. Answers the Questions!

We are going back to Italy soon. We are meeting the author for a tour of Venice, which will include an introduction on the "how" of Venice. Bt before we meet our guide, we need to manage our way in Tuscany and then by train to Venice. This includes train and Vaporetto.

This book is excellent for easing the fears of transportaion and other little questions ordinary guidebooks overlook.

Nice and small so it can be taken with you wherever you go. I highly recommned!
