I awoke in my room. The sun shone through the window. As I passed by a few photos of my friends, Nathan, Jose, Talia, Ren-Ohmar, I stopped to think. Why have they left me? Nathan was busy killing left over dragons, Jose was at sea, Talia whent back to Whiterun to get her guard in shape and Ren had gone and became a well known merchant. All sI had was nothing. I have no special talents that my friends have, all I own is a small shop and no one seems to like me. "Pull yourself together Emily, your life isn't worthless yet." I said to myself. It must have been a miricale and a totall strike of bad luck. An inverted mountian flew overhead. Could it be? Umbreil? (This is a preview of the proluge. Full proluge posted 24 of December. As our populaton grows and more people live in urban areas, many find themselves without easy access to large wild areas. More and more children are growing up in cities without ever experiencing what most people think of as nature. However, nature always finds a way to prevail, and if you stop and think about it, nature abounds, even in the most urban of areas.
In her book, It's a Jungle Out There!: 52 Nature Adventures for City Kids, Jennifer Ward has suggested 52 nature adventures to be used with urban dwelling toddlers and younger preschoolers. As an ecologist, there were no gems of wisdom in the book. However, for someone less in tune with the natural world around them, this book might prove valuable as way for them and their young children to connect with the nature outside their door.
