    For parents of urban toddlers

As our populaton grows and more people live in urban areas, many find themselves without easy access to large wild areas. More and more children are growing up in cities without ever experiencing what most people think of as nature. However, nature always finds a way to prevail, and if you stop and think about it, nature abounds, even in the most urban of areas.

In her book, It's a Jungle Out There!: 52 Nature Adventures for City Kids, Jennifer Ward has suggested 52 nature adventures to be used with urban dwelling toddlers and younger preschoolers. As an ecologist, there were no gems of wisdom in the book. However, for someone less in tune with the natural world around them, this book might prove valuable as way for them and their young children to connect with the nature outside their door.
