Chenoweth's book is a fascinating glance at how schools no one would expect to succeed are doing just that. She provides story after story of school after school that is overcoming poverty and other obstacles to see that students are successful. The stories themselves are valuable in that real educators describe the things they have done to make learning happen for students others have given up on. As an educator, I can appreciate these stories. I also find the list of common things these schools are doing to be successful, fascinating and useful as well. This is an excellent book for those who wish to hear success stories in the most unlikely places. It is an excellent book for the student in education classes and for the administrator who needs affirmation that all students can experience success. Was this review helpful?
