Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Sharon Salluzzo
In addition to their baskets on Easter morning, Little Critter and Little Sister get a big surprise: a real bunny which Little Sister names "Egg." The siblings then fill an Easter basket to take to their grandparents, make cards, and get dressed in their Easter finery. At their grandparents, they decorate eggs and have an egg hunt. Little Critter then realizes he hasn't seen "Egg" in a while. Everyone searches and "Egg" is found under the chicken coop with a wild rabbit. "Egg" is last seen hopping down the road with the wild rabbit while Little Critter and his family sit down to Easter dinner. The familiarity of Little Critter will attract children and their parents to this book. Unfortunately, even the "lift-the-flap" aspect does not raise the interest level. This is little more than a litany of things associated with Easter. Place on top of that the lack of care and concern for the safety of the pet rabbit and you have a book that this reviewer cannot recommend.

    Kids loved it!

Our kids have loved this book. It was the perfect gift for our oldest son's Easter basket and he's been reading this out loud to us and his younger brothers. He enjoys reading, but it's always extra special to find things he wants to read over and over again; and it helps strengthen his reading skills even more. Glad we decided to get this one!

    It's Easter Little Critter

Another great story by Mayer. The characters are engaging and the story lively and kids love to hear it over and over again. As with all of Mayer's books, it is a keeper.

    Perfect for reading to toddlers!

My granddaughters thoroughly enjoy reading this, and other Mercer Mayer, Little Critter books. The stories are wonderful and the illustrations terrific. In particular, the pop ups in this story were an added bonus. Our favorite part of these books is looking for the small character - a spider, cricket, grasshoppoer or mouse, that is hidden - in plain sight! - on each page. That delightful touch engages little readers as much as the story does. I am tickled to be able to share this experience with my grandchildren as I did with their dads - my sons - during their toddler years.

    cute

I bought this for my 7 year old twin daughters...they really like the pages that flip open to reveal a surprise in the story. They have several of the LIttle Critter books and like to read & re-read them. We also play "search & find" with objects in the story after we read it the first time...find the mouse on each page, etc.

    I Also Recommend:

    Great fun reading these books!

I bought these books for my daughter and now we both buy them for her son. The characters are fun. We watch for the spider on each page of the books (a little similar to looking for Waldo). There is real love and affection displayed in these books. We will read and re-read these books for a long time.
