Barnes & Noble - David Sprague
It's never easy for a television personality to be taken seriously when trying to segue into the world of pop music, but to his credit, this Nickelodeon fixture makes a mighty credible bid with his full-length debut. Rather than attempt to coast along in the wake of Justin Timberlake, Bell goes for a blast-from-the-past vibe on It's Only Time, setting a mood that's part power-pop, part sunny California rock and uniformly focused on the creation of tunes that stick in the head after one listen. That's true of "I Know," a revved-up sing-along that conjures up images of Swinging London, circa 1966, as well as the more melancholy "Do What You Want," which coasts along on a...

That's true of "I Know," a revved-up sing-along that conjures up images of Swinging London, circa 1966, as well as the more melancholy "Do What You Want," which coasts along on a wave of keyboards that Elton John could easily hang ten on. Bell goes all out to make the disc as involving as it is enjoyable -- sneaking in hidden bits of dialogue and silly sounds on tracks like "Up Periscope" -- and he connects far more often than he swings and misses. That's especially evident on the ambitious, four-song closing suite -- which he's said was inspired by the similarly constructed second side of the Beatles' Abbey Road. Admittedly, he's no Lennon or McCartney, but the break-up themes -- not to mention the creamy melodies -- of "Break Me Down" and "Rusted Silhouette" exhibit both the instincts and the talent to craft pop songs that fans will be singing long into the future.

Why Drake Bell will conquer music

If you havent listened to Drake's latest installment then let me make this easy for you. GET THE ALBUM. It works for all age groups. Kids can relate to him from D&J and his songs on the show while Adults can relate to the Beatle theme they grew up to. Songs like "Up Periscope", "I Know", and "Break Me Down" are just a few songs on this album in which you can hear the Beatle influence. There is no song on this album in which your not tapping your foot or humming the melody. This indie rock release is only one word....AMAZING

    Good, but not so good.

I think it was good, but I didn't like all the songs.I mean, I'm in love with Drake, but not all his songs, like end it good.TOO COUNTRY!And some even sound the same. But I like some of them.I liked the song I saw on tv on the preview, and three or four weren't that bad.

    Even BETTER then 'Telegraph'!

Yes, it's true Drake's new CD 'It's Only Time' is better then 'Telegraph'. With "makes Me Happy" and " Up Periscope"'s up beat rythym and the Elton John like " Do what You Want" this Cd is influenced with a Beatles, Beachboys type sound, making it enjoyable for anyone to listen to.

    Best record of 2006

Drake Bell really showed the world with his new record "It's Only Time". From the catchy "Up Periscope" to the 20's themed "End It Good" you are sure to be up on your feet dancing and singing along with the multi-talented star Drake Bell. All of the songs are fun and up beat. This is a record that everyone in the family will enjoy. I highly recommend it and give it an honest 5 stars.

Drake Bell + Music = Great Entertainment

As a fan of Drake Bell, I just had to buy the 2nd CD, called " It's Only Time " released on December 5, 2006. The hit single " I know " was heard by many even before the CD came out, and to me it gave me a good vibe that the CD was going to be outstanding, and it was. I recommend this CD to anyone who has a taste for older music, with a modern twist. Absolutely incredible!

    What a comeback!

In all the years that tv stars that try music careers, there are only a few that shine (ie Jamie Walters). Drake Bell has definately proved himself of being an actor/singer/musician. Drake Bell's music appeals to not only teenyboppers or those who watch "Drake & Josh", but to older people. Why? Drake has a lot of Beatles influence in his music. After what Drake went through in 2006, this is his end of the rainbow! From a near auto accident to winning a Kids Choice Award, from filming the final season of "Drake & Josh" to putting out this CD. I truly recommend this CD for Drake fans of all ages!

    Great CD for all!

This is a great CD to buy, it's very upbeat with positive lyrics. The first song may have a line like this "....I sneak a peek to see what you were wearing last night, or what was left over from ripping off your clothes...." but that's the only song with content like that. The rest have lyrics like "So do what you want to do, be what you want to be". Not only are the lyrics upbeat, but the music behind them is feel-good and sounds very unique. Another great thing about this CD, is that anyone can enjoy it! I'm in my late teens, and I love the sound of this CD, but what's even better, is my mom likes it too, how cool is that? What I also love about this CD, and find admirable about Drake Bell and his band, is that they have written all the music themselves! They don't just get out there and bring it when they sing, letting others write the lyrics...no! They write it all! Folks, it doesn't get better than this, please support this talented man, and buy his new CD!
