Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly

The family from Welcome to Your World, Baby return in a similarly cheerful companion book. The two sisters (the younger one is now a toddler) spend an active day with their dad cavorting in the park with their dog, playing hopscotch and having a tea party. Self-assured older sister Frankie narrates: "When Violet goes down for a nap (she still naps, but I don't have to anymore), Dad and I sit on the couch and watch basketball." The plot is light, but readers should appreciate the feel-good message. Ages 3-8. (May)Copyright © Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Children's Literature
A fun-loving Daddy spends the day with his little girls Frankie and Violet in this endearing book that presents a father- daughter relationship as something very special. The plot hinges on the fact that Daddy says Mommy needs a day to rest. This opens the opportunity for Daddy and his girls to enjoy many activities, which include making and eating pancakes, playing in the park, eating ice cream, playing hopscotch, teaching their dog Darla new things, and having a tea party in which Daddy dons a pink boa and sips tea. The first person narrative is from the perspective of Frankie, the oldest sister. It is easy to see that she is growing up and that little sister Violet is learning new things. Entertaining and colorful illustrations fill the pages and contain humor that adds to the text. These illustrations make reading the book over and over a pleasing activity. The book can help bring forth discussions about how children can spend fun times with their parents. It is good to see that children can be entertained with simple activities that do not cost anything. Reviewer: Nancy Garhan Attebury

    A Really Nice Story

This is just one of those books that makes you feel good. A really nice story. Fathers and daughters have a special bond and this book captures the sentments perfectly. If you have little girls, get this book! And dads, read it, too (it'll make you all mushy inside).

    Best Father's Day Present Ever

I ordered this for my husband for Father's Day. We have 2 little girls & he is the best dad ever. It was fun for him to read this with the girls. The illustrations are adorable & the story line is perfect for a 3 yr. old (& her 4 month old sister). Loved it!!!

    Great Illustration

Cori Doerrfeld continues to keep things bright, fun, and interesting in this nice but un-original book. Her attention to details is lovely. Thank goodness Brooke Shields is a big enough name to get Ms. Doerrfeld's out to a larger audience. I can't wait to see a book of her own one day!
