Women in Miami are being victimized by a serial sexual predator, but the cops are a step behind(sometime two),until he assaults a criminology professor's student, prompting the theory-minded Berkeley grad to go pragmatic, join the cops and enter the pursuit, which now begins to close the gap. Authors George Kirkham and Leonard Territo are, respectively,a professor turned cop,and a cop turned professor. The story here is semi-biographical, and the quality of the writing reflects the uniqueness of their backgroungs. Highly entertaining, just a touch complex, funny and sad, it is not exactly a memior, or and old fashion mystery, although it has elements of both. It is,actually, quiet a bit more as the the antagonist begins striking closer to home and the dragnet tightens. The authors resist the temptation to insert gimics and manufactured situations in the plot, which painstakingly evolves into a first-rate thriller, starring a hero with whom no one would have earlier identified ,but who eventually everyone sympathizes with and roots for Suspensful, authentic, and exciting, it never disappoints. It is well- worth the price of admission, Can't wait for the inevitable sequel. Dr. William J Bopp Professor Emeritus of Criminology
The authors bring the characters to life. Based on true events, the sexual predator terrorizes women for months until two detectives try desperately to figure out who his next victim will be in the hopes of getting him off the streets and in prison. You can picture the victim's in their rooms sleeping peacefully and see the rapist standing there just watching and waiting patiently until the time is right.
