A big-voiced teenager, Jaci Velasquez earned her 2000 Dove Award for Best Female Vocalist on the strength of power ballads from this 1998 release. Album opener "God So Loved the World" shows Velasquez's remarkable vocal mastery for one so young. Just 17 when the album was recorded, she is already fluent in the art of nuance, knowing just when to rein in her powerful voice and when to let it go full throttle -- a skill that a few veteran pop divas still haven't learned. "Look What Love Has Done" drips with emotional intensity, as do many of the selections here. Velasquez is a song interpreter, relying on others to write her material; luckily, she has the pick of the litter here, snagging tunes by Wayne Kirkpatrick, Chris Eaton, and Michelle Tumes. These are love songs to God, and when Velasquez wraps her rich voice around such tender lyrics, she sounds mature beyond her years. The best part? Given her relative youth, there's a lot more great music to come out of this talented singer. Lisa Zhito

All Music Guide - Rodney Batdorf
With her second album, Jaci Valesquez firmly establishes herself as a very gifted CCM vocalist. Like her previous record, the album suffers a bit from uneven material, but her warm, appealing voice and the lush production makes Jaci Velaquez an easy album to enjoy.
