Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Patrice Russo Belotte
After kneeling down to get a better look in the dark, Lizzie was finally able to see what it was that had captured Jack's attention. She held back a gasp and tried not to get upset at the cute boxer puppy that lay beside her, happily chewing on her favorite book! Lizzie Peterson and her family know all about puppies; they often foster them in their home until the puppies can find a home of their own with a family that will love and take care of them. This puppy, however, is struggling to find a good family who will love and take care of him. Jack chews up Mrs. Peterson's work and Lizzie's letter that she wrote to her favorite author. Quick to remedy the situation, Mrs. Peterson suggest that Lizzie email the author instead of sending a letter. Distracted by the excitement of hearing back from someone as famous as Kit Smithers, Lizzie doesn't watch as Jack continues to munch on the Peterson's prized possessions. Part of the popular Scholastic series, "Jack" is one of many puppies of who has lived with the Peterson family, getting to know Lizzie and her brothers, on his way to a new home. Despite being upset, Lizzie's love of animals drives her determination to find Jack a home. Reviewer: Patrice Russo Belotte
