White Pine Lake is a sleepy little resort town in Wisconsin with a problem, people get shot there. There have been three murders and one attempted murder during the span of less than one week. At the site of each shooting, a playing card -- the jack of clubs -- has been left behind, apparently by the shooter himself.
Tasked with solving the murders are Travis Doyle, a washed up big city detective given a second chance in a small town sheriff's department, and Tammi Becker, the cute college intern assigned to help him. But not all is what it seems. Travis still has a veteran cop's instincts and while Tammi may look like a cheerleader, she turns out to be no airhead. Together they form an unlikely partnership that actually works.
"Jack of Clubs" is a full-length murder mystery screenplay with a comic edge and memorable characters.
Harry Wastrack, a retired federal employee, has two passions -- playing cards and writing. He has written "The Essential Hand & Foot," which tells how to play and edgy updated version of the card game Canasta and is the president of 52 Plus Joker, the American Playing Card Collectors Club. Mr Wastrack also likes to tell stories and has written the enigmatic stage play "The Back Room," as well as the short comedy screenplay "Hand & Foot Summer."
