Jackie DuPont thought life was over when she lost her husband. Little did she know of the pain and joys that were to come. Lost in a world of sleepless nights and lonely days, Jackie finds she's pregnant with her late husband's child. How can she be a mother when simply getting out of bed is a struggle? Add to it a rape by a prominent attorney where she's left for dead and we wonder, how much can Jackie's heart take? Life seems to think she can take more-when the heart wins its battle with the mind and she falls in love, only to find herself surrounded by gunfire. Join Jackie on her journey as she discovers that it takes more courage to live than to die, to stand up for justice no matter how difficult, and to hold strong to a second chance at love-even if it means risking it all.

It's been a long time since I stayed up all night reading a book- and Jackie's Heart was one of them. From the moment I started reading, I was engrossed with Jackie's life. The struggles she lived were so tragic- yet, sadly realistic. Many women lose their husbands while pregnant- just think of the horrible losses after 9-11. What made me love Jackie so much was her spirit. Even when she thought she hadn't the strength to go on, she found it. I was inspired by this well written character, and would love to see Ms. DuBois write many more books. I'd be a fan for certain. Someone told me about this book, so I purchased it. However, had I not been told, I never would have found this jewel. How can we get this book seen so others can enjoy the fantastic story?

I thought the book started off a little slow with ambulances and dreary hospitals; BUT Ms. DuBois rapidly entices the reader to continue. The main character, Jackie is a likeable person; whom readers can relate to. Once past the introductory pages, I could not put the book down until I finished reading it. I anxiously turned the pages. Reading 'Jackie's Heart' was a very enjoyable experience, including the elements of romance, danger, and intrique. I encourage others to also read Ms. Dubois' captivating book.

I absolutly loved this heart gripping book. When I got to the chapter where she realizes she is pregnant with her dead husband's baby,I quickly remembered years back how that thought flashed through my mind frequently, since my husband is a retired veteran. He used to be off in the midst of so much danger and I would think 'Oh my goodness, what if somthing happens to him' at that time I was newly pregnant with my son Jaysek, and I couldn't take the thought of raising him single. I also love her inner strengh through out the rape and being betrayed.By reading 'Jackie's Heart' it made me obssess and think, what if all the thing I pictured in my mind back then and stressed over, I had to really live it out.

In addition to a story that continually surprises as the tension mounts and that delivers in the midst of suffering the possibility of new love, ¿Jackie¿s Heart¿ gives us a character we can enjoy spending time with even in the thick of her troubles, someone we can get close to. Because Jackie, in spite of being realistic and vulnerable and having her share of foibles, is a thoroughly good person, the kind of person you feel you could call upon in time of need, a person you would like to include among your close friends. Readers who want to spend time with such a person, who want to go with her even through her dangers and losses, and share with her the triumphs she finds, will want to read this book, and having read it, are sure to count it among their favorites.

As soon as I began reading Jackie's Heart, by Ellen M. DuBois, I found myself almost unable to put it down. I was absorbed in her grief, and felt Jackie to be a very 'real' person. Throughout the book, the struggle for Jackie to heal touched me deeply, and I found myself rooting for her, especially when more obstacles were put in her path. I could relate to this character- not because I've lived her experiences, but her thoughts and reactions were very much like I'd anticipate mine to be. Jackie's Heart truly takes you on a roller coaster ride. Just when you think things may be smoothing out for her, something new and unexpected, (in particular the devasting event with the attorney- I don't want to reveal too much), comes her way. I sensed her character growing stronger and stronger throughout the book, and liked what I was feeling about her. From teary eyed and afraid, (rightly so), to standing up for justice without hesitation, I loved taking this journey with Jackie. A true sucker for a happy ending, I was very pleased with how Jackie's life turned out. Not unrealistic, but wonderful with a surprising touch of suspense and adventure to top it off. Ms. Ellen DuBois did a fantastic job. Jackie's Heart entertained me, whisked me away, but also made me think and touched me deeply. Great reading.
