Herald photo by Stephanie Salmons

Publisher: The Sylva Herald

Date: 7/30/09

More than 100 people, including Sylva storyteller and author Gary Carden, right, visited City Lights Bookstore Monday (July 27) for the debut of "Jackson County Then and Now," the second local history volume from Arcadia Publishing. Co-authors and Sylva Herald staffers Nick Breedlove, left, and Lynn Hotaling, third from left, signed copies for almost two hours with the assistance of City Lights' Jenifer Ross, second from left. The book is an outgrowth of The Sylva Herald's popular "Then and Now" features and documents county history through vintage photographs paired with current images. Proceeds from the book will benefit the Jackson County Historical Society. Arcadia released "Sylva," written by Hotaling, last fall.
