Book One - Sacred Secrets

Sacred Secrets is the prequel to award winning, The Gifts, A Jacody Ives Mystery. The story behind the story. Revealing the dark secret hidden of Gavin McAllister that created Jacody Ives.

Jacody Ives had never had to wonder whether evil existed. He was born knowing it was there. A cunning predator, silently stalking its prey. Lurking in the shadows. Waiting. Patiently waiting for the delicate balance to shift. Give it power. Grant it life. Feeding on lies and manipulation. Anger and hate. Growing stronger as it chipped away at the soul. Destroying the light until there was nothing left but the darkness.

Evil attracts evil. He’d heard its call in the nightmare. The girl was dead, but she wanted something from him. “Please. . .”, she whispered. A small prayer in the darkness. Unanswered.

He would answer. There’d never been any other choice for him. Evil knew his name.

Book Two - The Gifts

Tortured. . . raped. . . executed. . .
No matter how much he drank, Gavin McAllister couldn't get the headline out of his head. Just words. He was a writer, made his living with words. The impact of the words directly correlated to the emotions of the reader. Words could be twisted, knives to open up wounds long hidden. Maneuvered to evoke buried nightmares. Bare the soul, expose the wound, and you had a best seller. Make them laugh. Make them cry. Above all, make them feel something. He was an expert at manipulating words for emotion.

But he'd seen the body.

It wasn't a story this time. This time it was personal. The demon of his nightmares had no name, but now he knew where to look for him. Glade Springs had secrets. And no one uncovered secrets better than Jacody Ives.

Editorial Reviews

Midwest Book Reviews - Sandra Heptinstall
If you love a good mystery mixed with the supernatural, and suspense, then this is the book for you. It is a thriller that has you thinking one way, and then within the next few pages you are on a journey that will keep you going until the end. It is like being on a roller coaster. You slowly make your way up to the top, all the time watching how high you are going. Then as you reach the top you say to yourself, "What was I thinking?" Yet it is too late to get off. This book is like a roller coa

Meet the Author

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author
Hi. My name is Linda S. Prather. I was born in Kentucky in 1955, the youngest of six siblings. I live in Lexington, Kentucky with my fiancé, Coby W. Fuson. I have two wonderful sons, Charles and Steven. I have always loved reading and writing. And although perhaps not one of the greatest literary works, my earliest memory of a book that inspired me was Old Yeller.
The characters in that book were so real to me. I laughed and cried with every page. When I started writing, it was my greatest desire to write characters, which were real, and stories that opened the hearts and minds of the readers.

Knowledge was another love. I wanted to learn everything about everything. In the late 1980's I started my studies in metaphysics, delving into touch healing, dream analysis, meditation, psychic phenomena, and hypnosis. I received my degree in metaphysics in 1992 and continued from there to become a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. I spent the new two years studying the effects of hypnosis on cancer and pain. I taught meditation and self-hypnosis, as well as dream analysis through Eastern Kentucky University's Special Programs for four years. The power of the mind has always fascinated me, and continues to fascinate me.

The Gifs is actually the fourth novel I've written, although it is my first attempt at publishing one of my works. I am currently working on a new novel, and find myself in the jungles of Africa, enthralled by its culture and beauty. Hopefully, I will share that with you in the near future.

My greatest accomplishments–my children. My sons have been the light in my life. Their love and encouragement has sustained me through the bad times and enhanced my joy during the good times.

My favorite pastimes–good friends, good food and good conversation.

My favorite quote: "Be known for unwavering commitment to the people and ideals you choose to live by."

Here are my reviews for the individual books. The Gifts. This is the third book of Linda's I've had the pleasure of reading and to be honest it's hard to choose which one I like the best. Right from the very first page I was hooked by this story. An excellent supernatural thriller. The suspenseful story revolves around Gavin McAllister who has to use his psychic abilities/dreams to save a girl and her mother. I've come to learn that as far as characters and suspenseful plotting are concerned Linda really has her finger on the pulse. You'll find your pulse rate escalating during this fast-paced thriller. Can't wait for the next book Linda. Sacred Secrets. This is certainly a mystery with a twist, a supernatural twist. Ms Prather definitely knows how to draw her readers in and retain their interest. I loved the characters throughout and felt compassion for Jacody and Katie, something that rarely happens when I've read other mysteries. This story is riddled with twists and turns and I can't wait to read the second book in the series 'The Gifts' too. Congratulations on an intriguing read Ms Prather.
