Read this after the Book of Deacon Trilogy

This story is set after the Book of Deacon trilogy. If you read this first, you may end up with some of the trilogy plot details.

written by Joseph Lallo, author of Deacon. I read this book in one day.

Some people have angels to watch over them, Jade has a dragon. Set in a mid-evil time period, Jade loses her parents only to be saved by a dragon. Against his better judgment, the dragon agrees to raise Jade. This is their story.

Good read for a kid or tween.

I haven't read any of the supporting series, so I can tell you it works well as a stand alone book.

A tenacious girl decides befriend a dragon, whether it wants it or not, after a scheming farmer tries to give her up to "appease" a dragon, that they think is causing a severe drought.

She is, believably irritating, as most little kids are, in the way that's good for them, and helps them learn and grow - like asking many questions, and wanting to learn more and hear stories.

I was a little disenchanted with the adult version of Jade, as she takes DIY to a new level, and of course everything she decides to do, she does perfectly. Speaking a few languages, tailoring, woodworking, farming, healing, I get it, she's got a lot of time on her hands, but it's a bit much.

The novel then bows out as a short story, by wrapping things up in a suitable fairytale ending.

All in all, it was a cute read, it was a kids book, but without talking down to the reader, or coming off as too childish. And I enjoyed it as an adult, and would have liked it as a kid, I can tell.

I liked it enough to look into other books by the author, so that's a good sign if you're willing to come back for more : )

    Very good story

I bought this book for my Nook originally because of it's name "JADE", I have been reading and sharing books with my grand daugher in Hawaii who is named JADE. After reading it I was pleasantly surprised, I felt it was something Jade would like not only because they shared the name but it's similar to other books she has been reading. I wanted Jade to know she can also do what ever she wants to do in life, if she works hard and sets goals.

    Wonderful.

The story starts a little slow, but, as with the Book of Deacon novels, I quickly found myself in love with the characters. I highly recommend this and any of his other works.

    As a follow up

This book left me wanting. The story left a feeling of incompleteness. Nothing was really developed, or was developed too quickly.

Tying into the The Book of Deacon trilogy was done weakly and by names and thin bloodlines.

I really enjoyed the Trilogy, and this just didn't hold up.

Excellent add to the Deacon Trilogy

I love this story! I only wish it was longer. Once again, the author has wrote a fine tale; it nicely compliments the trilogy and answers a few questions I had. I am truly looking forward to new stories about this world and its people. Perhaps one that goes in depth about Lain, The Red Shadow, before he became one of The Chosen... and definitely one that shows the final death of Epidime because he needs to go down! ;) Kudos once again to the author. Please write fast!
