Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Sent from 300 years in the future to keep reporter Jane Colby from falling victim to a wily Jumpkiller who's come forward in time to kill again, bio-engineered warlord Baran Arvid finds himself attracted to Jane. A macho, protective hero; a brave, modern heroine; a sick serial killer; and a wonderful, sentient wolf drive the plot of this violent, action-packed, but occasionally humorous romance with an sf touch. Nicely written, quickly paced, and definitely on the erotic side, this will appeal to readers who appreciate graphic language and a surfeit of explicit sex. Knight has written erotic novellas for the Secrets anthologies of sensual fiction from Red Sage, and this is her debut full-length novel. She lives in Roebuck, SC. sizzling hot tale from a Rising Star

I first read Angela Knight in Red Sage¿s Secrets Vol. #2. The novella was entitled ¿Roarke¿s Prisoner¿ and she literally blew me away! I immediately was desperate for anything written by the talented writer, who gives you a raw, red-hot story, yet still remembers the passion in romance, not just the physical side. She always has a strong plot foundation that is often missing in other Erotic Romance writers. Basically, she is am author who gives you her all. I was very disappointed to find out this amazing writer did not have dozens of books on her backlist. How could print publishers let this talent slip through their fingers? If I was an editor I would have snapped her up two years ago! I devoured the other Red Sage books (Secrets #3 ¿Blood and Kisses¿ and Secrets #7 ¿Kissing the Hunter¿ were vampire tales) and they were just as strong. She has a new book out this month - besides Jane¿s Warlord - from Ellora¿s Cave - Ellora's Cavemen: Tale of the Temple II and her second big-book is out in October called Master of the Night ¿ a sexy vampire saga, her 2nd for Berkley ¿ so to say Knight is on fire is putting it mildly! Frankly, it will be the readers who are on fire! This writer is one to watch! It is interesting to see the impact Ellora¿s Cave is having on mainstream print publishers, because Knight turns up the romance with intensely, erotic love scenes, which might have some faint-hearted readers blushing! EC making big waves and you are seeing more writers from EC being snapped up by the publishing houses. They are stretching the general genre Romance, pushing the envelope. It¿s rather exciting to witness the ¿new kids on the block¿ making the old guard take notice. Writers who are coming out of Red Sage and EC are bringing a large following with them, so they enter the trade paperback market with big sales and instant bestsellers. However, Knight is one of the best by any standard. She creates strong characters you care about, gives reasonable (Time-Travel is always iffy logic to me! lol) explanations to her Time-Travel line, and takes something old and makes it new again. There will be instant references from readers of The Terminator giving Knight her seed for this story, (the writer even makes a couple herself!). So? They say there are only 7 basic storylines; it is what the writer does with them that showcases the talent. Knight took sexy John De Salvo, grafted him onto a genetically engineered body ala Arnie from T1, and gives you were sizzling kick a*** tale. Toss in a Time-Traveling Jack the Ripper and you have the makings of a very compelling story. Jane Colby finds herself the target of old period-jumping Jack and the only thing standing between her and the killer are a generically altered, wisecracking timber wolf and one sexy warrior from the future. Knight blends all her elements so deftly. The scorching love scenes are nearly devastating, yet she manages to keep them from overpowering the whole book, by adding flawed, well-drawn characters with a rich history, a chilling stalk for a killer who is in turn stalking Jane, and the quirky humor of having a talking wolfhound that makes me think of the mouthy dog from the Men in Black Movies. The scenes with the wolf an absolute how, punch up the intensity level of the sexy love scenes and the brutal slayings, but giving the reader that much needed (pant pant) time to catch their breath! This may be Knight¿s first trade paperback big book, but she sounds the trumpet ¿ she is a force to be reckoned with sexy, futuristic/paranormal tales that take the reader to the limit and beyond! If you want your romances on par with ¿a kiss on the cheek Regency level¿ then give this book a pass for it will curl your toes. Knight¿s book is a ¿if you cannot stand the heat then get out of the kitchen¿ sort of tale. For those wanting a novel that delivers on all levels, then take the walk into the fire! Just be sure to have a tall picture of iced

    Erica

I bought this book years ago and i have read and reread it many times. I have most of Angela Knights ebooks and paperbacks and this one is still one of very most favorites. It is fast pased, funny, and sexy. What more could you ask for. The characters are so well written i fell in love with them and did not want their story to end. I have read all of the books in the time warrior series and they are all great. But this on is the best:)

    Great book

This was a great book that held my attention from start to finish. It's my first read for Angela Knight and won't be the last. Suspense, action, romance, mystery and humor: a terrific combination.

...and a good story too. I loved this book and couldn't put it down. This book had suspense, romance, humor and action. What more could you ask for? The relationship between Baran and Jane was intense...made me want a Warlord of my own and I'm a happily married woman. This was my first Angela Knight book and it won't be my last.

    Outstanding

I loved this book. It was a great read that was full of steamy sex, suspense, romance, action, and even great humor. For those of you who don't like intense sex scenes, though, don't read it.

I can't believe I read the whole thing in a few hours

I bought this because of the reviews I read here. The book is easy to read and moves right along, but it's kinda kinky. I wasn't prepared for the rough sexual escapades or the language. There should be an X rating on this book! The book doesn't delve too much into characters and is kinda cheasy and comical in some of its writing. Alas, it was entertaining and that's what I strive for in a book. Entertainment. But, not a book I would recommend to my mom!

    ACTUALLY A GOOD READ

I know sometimes these books can be all sex and no story but this title has both. The story line was truly excellent and there was just enough sex to keep the book from being boring. I loved it! I recommend it!

    Loved it!

This was perhaps the best of them all in my opinion. I loved all of them though for her unique sense in writing. Still of more to read by this author but trust me in the fact that looking forward to her book is well worth a wait for them to be ordered in.

    Very good but......

I loved the story and the sex scenes were well written. However I didn't care for the language I felt that it was a bit over the top. Clean up that a bit and it would be a perfect book.

Fun, better than the blurb suggests

I was curious after reading an inside back cover blurb about upcoming releases. I checked out the author's website and read some exerpts of some of her books. This book actually is a fun read. I'm not sure what I expected from an author that started out in erotica, (we all have to start somewhere) some of the sex scenes are probably much more graphic (as per penthouse letters) then perphaps the average romance reader is used too. But this author really does not go over the line. What is nice about this book is that there is a plot and character developement. With bits of sci-fi and time-travel thrown in. This book was an interesting and refreshing twisting of action adventure/time travel/romance and I look forward to reading the author's next book.

    Wow! Very hot!

I picked this up at Barnes & Noble yesterday. I've never heard of Ms. Knight before and I was shocked that I hadn't heard of such a great author. Her sex scenes rock and she actually has a pretty good story line going too. I was very happy with this purchase.

    Loved this book

Jane¿s Warlord is an exceptional book. I am so glad friends kept after me to get this book. Jane Colby is a local newspaper reporter, she covers the crime beat. She is investigating the most recent murder and is shocked to hear how violent the crime is. Even more shocking is the man and his wolf waiting for her at home. Baran Arvid is a warlord from the future. He has been sent back in time to stop a sadistic serial killer whose next victim is Jane. Baran and his sidekick will lay down their life¿s to protect Jane. Jane at first doesn¿t trust this man and his motives. But she comes to realize she must put her faith and her life in his hands in order to survive. Jane is a strong willed, kiss butt heroine. Jane is an equal to Baran on so many levels. She gives as good as she gets in and out of the bedroom. Baran though a fierce warlord has never felt this intense desire before and is willing to risk all to have Jane. Angela Knight writes a richly sensual, suspenseful, futuristic tale. The characters are so multi-dimensional, they make you laugh and you can feel their passions. This book was everything I was told it was and so much more. It¿s a scorcher.

We need more books like this!

JANE'S WARLORD is an awesome story that I didn't want to put down! I loved every minute it from the first page to the last. The love scenes were just what the doctor ordered. Very hot and very yummy! I'd sure love to come home and find a sexy Warlord waiting for me! If you like your romance books full of action and steamy love scenes with characters that you actually care about then this book is a must buy. Angela Knight is an author not to be missed! She's an automatic buy for me!

    Interesting...

To save the future, Baran and his genetically altered for sentience wolf companion, Frieka, go back in time to stop a modern Jack the Ripper from killing an ordinary woman who can change history. Although they are supposed to keep their identities secret, their charge, Jane, is a reporter, and not easily fooled. Rather than passively allowing her bodyguards to protect her, Jane is determined to help, even after she sees tri - d holograms of their enemie's gruesome handiwork. The guy makes Jeff Dahmer look like a nice guy, and he has powers that keep him one step ahead of them. The future hangs on the success of a desperate gamble and the power of love. ........................... While Ms Knight handles the paradoxes of time travel in the most intelligent, logical way I've ever seen; the dissonance created by overtly vulgar sexuality is jarring. This is a shame, because if that facet were handled with a bit of delicacy, the book would rate four stars, as it is otherwise clever.
