Overview

Finally, a fun and easy way to learn REAL conversational Japanese!

We are including at no extra charge, MP3s for the seven dialogues found in this ebook. Create play-lists to study on the go or burn the sound files to a CD to listen at home. The download link is found on the last page.

We have been involved with helping people learn (and teach) Japanese for over ten years now through our TheJapanesePage.com (free) website and TheJapanShop.com webstore. We believe the best way to learn vocabulary--by far--is to study words within their proper context. The dialogues found in this ebook are all about context and how Japanese is actually used while asking and receiving directions. The MP3s are all recorded by native voice actors and actresses.

The ebook itself contains the dialogue with the English translation, but it also adds cultural or grammatical notes to help you understand the dialogue in context.

While you do not have to know hiragana before using this ebook (romaji is provided), we highly recommend it. Every kanji here has furigana (small hiragana) over it to aid reading. However, if you do not yet know hiragana, please check out our Hiragana ebook.

Please download the sound files (link found on the last page). We hope this ebook by itself will be helpful, but the sound files--in our opinion--give it most of its value.

Meet the Author

In the late 1990s, Clay Boutwell moved from sunny Florida to Japan. He soon experienced the coldest--and snowiest--winter Fukui Prefecture had known in decades. Despite the cold, he soon warmed up to the Japanese culture and language.

Within a week of moving there, he met his future wife,Yumi. Together and over the years, they have created many ebooks, audio products, and software for learning Japanese.

In 1999, Clay started TheJapanesePage.com partly to help him prepare for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. It soon grew to become one of the most popular websites for learners of Japanese. It now boasts of thousands of pages of lessons, videos, audio podcasts, and a thriving forum for learners of all levels to ask questions.

Shortly before moving back to the States, Clay and Yumi created what would become Hiragana, the Basics of Japanese--a booklet for learning the Hiragana syllabary. From that start, they began creating and importing hard-to-find books and materials for learning Japanese and selling them on their website.

Their online bookstore is http://www.TheJapanShop.com.

They also maintain the free Japanese language learning site, http://www.TheJapanesePage.com.

Currently, Clay and Yumi reside in Florida with their two children and two dogs.
