    A wonderful choice...

For your information, I hand selected your Java book from all the rest, which was truly a lengthy process. I was looking for a 'classroom' style book, instead of merely a 'dummies' type of book. It appears to have exactly what I was looking for--an updated approach to learning Java which includes GUI presentation. And using color to distinguish and highlight areas of code also caught my eye. The thoroughness of this book amazes me. I highly recommend this book if just for the step-by-step approach this book offers, while maintaining a college-level quality format. Another plus is that each code example display the expected output, unlike many other books which leave you guessing until you hit it right. Much time and detail went into this book and its related links. Learning a programming language should be fun and interesting. This book has it all. Thanks so much for such a wonderful publication!

    Another great book

This was my first JAVA BOOK I bought while being in college years ago when I first started learning java even though it was an earlier edition the CONCEPTS on this new book remain the same as the other one. I do recommend this book for the general public, and/or for students who may have a different book for their class so, they can use it as a supplemental tool. Again, this book is over $100 but, don't think in the price. You would rather focus, in the QUALITY this book offers if you indeed want to learn java. It is like having an excellent teacher versus a really bad one where you don't learn as much as you wish.<BR/>Rolando R. Resendez<BR/>San Jose, CA

    Great Book

This is a great book if you are new to Java or been away from Java for a few years. The book has excellent examples that walk you through the topics of the chapter step by step. At the end of each chapter you will find vocabulary words and questions. The accompanying CD is a very good supplement.
