Children's Literature - Judy KatshThe life-to-date story of trumpet virtuoso, Wynton Marsalis, is told simply and personably in this appealing photo-biography. Knowing more about the man and his music is one happy outcome of reading this book. The other is learning about the value of "shedding." Apparently, in the early jazz days, musicians used to practice their instruments in the woodshed. As a result, the word "shedding" came to mean "practicing." It's a great notion and no one will miss the universal lesson embedded in this successful jazz musician's story.
