Jazz of the 60's

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Scott Yanow
This budget double LP from Vee Jay has 18 selections taken from 18 different recording dates. Some of the music is excellent but the random nature of the programming and the lack of recording dates or complete personnel info is rather inexcusable. Such musicians as Art Blakey with Buddy DeFranco on bass clarinet, Yusef Lateef, Lee Morgan, Eddie Harris, Wayne Shorter, Billy Taylor, Buddy Collette, Woody Herman, Cannonball Adderley, Freddie Hubbard, Wynton Kelly, Gene Ammons, Paul Chambers, Coleman Hawkins, Don Randi and Victor Feldman are heard from but most of the music is fortunately available in much more coherent form on CD.
