Overview

Jeet Kune Do, A New Era is a picture illustration book designed to explore self-defense in the groundfighting range. The subtitle is Groundfighting and Counters to Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

Jeet Kune Do Ground fighting is where we take the base of Brazilian jiu-jitsu and add all the nasty, illegal things that Brazilian jiu-jitsu fighters don't include because of their sport. Designed for self-preservation, we add locking techniques, small joint manipulation, pressure points, and eye jabs to the groundfighting range. This is from a jeet kune do instructors point of view.

Even the most skilled jeet kune do fighter becomes vulnerable when taken to the ground. That is why jeet kune do ground fighting was created. The moves shown will allow the JKD artist to continue to "flow like water," even if taken to the ground.

    Nice

I study brazilian jiu jitsu and I think that the moves covered in this book shows many variations to the same moves that we learn in BJJ and they also show the ones that are more effective in most situations. The book also shows most of the common positions that you can get stuck in when fighting on the ground and how to escape them, which is really good for beginers. For the more advance grapplers this stuff would be nice to have to refresh so I highly recommend it.

    Another Level

This book outlines some good concepts for going beyond the normal Groundfighting. It shows some deadly moves for self-defense. The moves are creative yet it seems very simple to understand the movements. This is one of a very few fighters that have original thoughts. Most people just teach what they have learned. This guy took it to another level.

    Good information for beginning grapplers

Martial artists unfamiliar with grappling on the ground will find this helpful to learn the common groundfighting scenarios and how to respond. An experienced grappler may be able to counter the counters but of course that can be said of any combat situation. Study and practice what works for you!
