Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Interior designer Bilhuber, whose work has been featured in Architectural Digest, House & Garden, and Vogue, shares the decorating advice he has developed over 20 years. His chatty writing style makes the information accessible and will allow novices to understand how to work with professional designers and contractors, as well as how to use the practical advice on color, space planning, furniture layout, and material choices. Especially helpful is the inclusion of specific Benjamin Moore paint colors he likes to use. Throughout are color photographs of Bilhuber's interiors, decorated in a style that has been dubbed American Classicism-a mix of classic American furniture and decorative accessories set in sleek, modern surroundings. More practical than many interior decorating books, this is recommended for large public library collections. Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.

The Best Book on Interior Design

Jeffrey Bilhuber's Design Basics is an essential title to have in your collection. This book offers beautiful ideas and solutions to nearly every situation or problem. Bilhuber's tips are both simple, practical, and breathtaking. The photography is magnificent throughout the book, and through the pictures you can see Bilhuber's ideas put to use in real homes for real people. I am studying to be an interior designer, and I appreciate Bilhuber's aesthetic, ideas, and attitude because they represent my own very closely. I recommend this book to anyone longing for inspiration and good advice from an expert in the field of design. I love this book so much!
